This isn't a review of the food or the staff, both of which have impressed. This review is in regards to corporate policy.
They do a deal once a week on a specific, rotating specialty pizza for half off. In the past my wife and I would use this deal to try a new specialty pizza that sounded good. We have some food allergies and irritabilities so when we order pizza we have to leave some toppings off, like onions and some peppers, because let's be honest, pizza joints have a love affair with peppers and onions. In the past this was not an issue even with the pie of the week deal. However, when we called tonight to order one of our favorite pizzas we were informed that the corporate policy no longer allows the modification of the pizza in any way, even to leave toppings off.
I can understand not allowing people to add and remove toppings willy nilly because then they can get whatever kind of pizza they want for half price, it close to it. I fail to see how allowing people to REMOVE toppings causes any issues with the deal. The company wouldn't allow a pizza to be half off for an entire week if they weren't still making some money on the sale or at least breaking even. Allowing customers to remove toppings only puts money back in the company's pocket and opens up the option for people with food allergies or sensitivities to try there pie of the week. Even if someone takes all of the toppings of and makes a cheese pizza, which shouldn't be allowed because they can limit the removals to 2 or even 1 toppings, the customer is only saving a couple dollars. I see no reason that they can't allow customers to remove 1 or 2 toppings to allow them to try the pie of the week.
We ordered from another restaurant tonight and will think twice before ordering from Hot Box Pizza again in the future because of...
Read moreThis was my first time ordering food from this restaurant. Last night After looking at their online menu I chose the 16" Big Al's Fredo to go. The service was good however the Pizza I received had about 2" to 2 1/2" all the way around the outside with no toppings what so ever. One slice had 3 inches of no toppings or sauce. I pointed this out to the manager that this was my first time to his store and this was not a good pizza to give me on my first visit. He told me it was supposed to have a thumbs width of clearance around the edge. He knew it was not right and he did offer to make another, But I really did not have time to wait and had a meeting I was on my way too. So he gave me 4 tootsie rolls and an order of bread sticks as compensation, I did not ask for it but would of rather had some of my money back. What bothers me is that he had to see what it looked like when it came out of the oven, also the guy in back making it had to know it was not made right, However they presented this pizza like this to me anyway. The pizza tasted good, but I am not so sure I would want to come back. Compared to other places I paid about 25% more for a Pizza that was essentially a 14" Pie on a 16" crust. I suggest the owner talk to these employees and let them understand that if customers don't feel their getting there money's worth they won't be...
Read moreFirst time ordering pizza from Hot Box Pizza while visiting Lafayette this autumn. So here is my unimportant opinion. Basic not bad not great, just a average pizza product. On par with Domino's and Little Caesars as well as Papa John's. You could have better for sure. If you are a foodie like myself and the rest of my family know this. They are good people with a clean environment making pizza for the masses. Not for people looking for something exceptional. Again not bad and not great. First and last order. Will eat what I paid for, cuz I respect the hard work I put into my paycheck. Have a slice, and then try something...
