Martha's Tacos & More — Restaurant in Lafayette

Came here on a whim just driving through the city and this was AMAZING. I am from very Southern Califronia and grew up with fantastic Mexican foods and have been missing that authenticity since moving to Oregon. I had the sopes and you could just taste that they were made with love. The staff were so lovely and didn't make me feel weird or uncomfortable when I asked for my food without meat (I've gotten eye rolls and annoyed looks at many restaurants). The sauces had so much flavor and the prices were so reasonable! My partner and I got Chile rellenos a la carte, each one meal plate, and drinks for $30. Martha’s set the bar in this are for fine Mexican cuisine years before the buildings were built for most of the fine eateries in the area! The food is awesome and the prices cannot be beat. The dining areas are quite pleasant and the service is spot on, a sign of a well established dining facility! I got a soft spot for anyplace that has good desert options. Many places don’t. They are like an after thought like a point of purchase candy bar! Possibly delicious but whorified by having it thrust upon you, ending in an artificial chocolate disappointment of epic proportions! You find yourself in Lafayette Oregon. Maybe because you didn't blink as you drove through, or road construction has you stopped in this tiny sleepy town. Right there in the middle of town is Martha's tacos. This is when you discover what the locals already know.. It's good! Really good. Nothing fancy here.. The chips look like they are out of a bag, but the meals are authentic. If you have ever had local street food in ole Mexico at midnight after having a few beers with your buddies, then you know how good authentic food tastes.
