I decided to order from this establishment on my way home from work today, as I have many many times before. Inclement weather was on its way, so I thought I could just hop in, and hop out, and be on my way, and hopefully back to my house to eat before the bad weather got here. I was the only person in the place ordering come or eating. And there were three women working behind the counter. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate, and an order of spinach pies. The person who took my order, couldn't get off of her phone long enough, with her earbuds in her ear, to even politely greet me When I walked in, much less correctly take an order. I ordered my food, waited 20 to 25 minutes for the order, in which time the bad weather was right on top of us, causing me to have to drive home in flooded Waters on the road, and blinding rain. I get home, open the box, to find it's not chicken. Not chicken. It's lamb, because lamb and chicken sounds so much alike! I called the establishment to explain to him what they did, and she placed an order for a chicken shawarma and an order of spinach pies. I stated to her. I do not think you understand what I'm saying! I ordered it already, paid for it, and you gave me the wrong thing! She then states she understands. Long pause.... I then asked, what are you going to do about it ? She asks me my name, and says I can come back up so they can make it right before they close tonight. Obviously she didn't hear me say that the roads were flooded and I could not get back to her today! She tells me it would be Monday because they are closed on Sunday, if I don't come today. I asked if there's anyone else there that can speak to me because I don't think she understands what I'm saying. I'm not coming back! Maybe you need to pay for GrubHub to deliver me my right order since you screwed up the one that I was there to pick up already! Regardless, me coming back out in inclement weather and flooded roads is not something that someone wants to do for this food, it's really not that good! Needless to say, I am on my way back to the establishment to get a full refund, and I will never ever ever be a patron of shawarma guys again! Zues' is actually better, friendlier, and have a seriously Much better attitude towards their customers! One star was generous, but as you know you got to leave one to...
Read moreI ordered a shawarma plate with a side of lentil soup. The shawarma plate comes with a healthy scoop of rice, chicken, salad, hummus, with a round of pita.
I want to stress that the shawarma was delicious. However, the rice was disappointing. It was bland, overcooked rice. What was most disappointing was the fact that they added turmeric, most likely, for color, but didn't add any other spices, and used a rice that was not fragrant, like Arabic rice typically is. It really needed salt. Rice is so cheap and important in Arabic cuisine, so that was disappointing. There were also peas and carrots randomly thrown in which was weird. The hummus wasn't special. Pretty bland. Super saucy. Could use some garlic, salt, lemon, and maybe even cumin. If you guys continue to use this hummus, please doctor it up some. It only needs a few things. The pita was pretty bad quality. I mean it wasn't freezer burnt or soggy or anything, but it was tasteless and limp, not chewy like good pita should be. The pita-hummus combo was not super enjoyable, as they both were very bland. The experience was like shoveling soup into your mouth with a piece of cardstock. That being said, the salad was delicious! If it weren't for the shawarma and the salad, I probably would not eat here again. Lastly, the lentil soup was okay. Very bland on its own, without a squeeze of lemon. A common theme here is that the food is unfortunately under salted (except for the chicken!). I ended up putting the rice and leftover chicken into my soup with lemon and it was very tasty.
Overall, Shawarma Guys's food is good, but some of their items need a little doctoring up. If they start making better rice, I'll give them another star :) It hurt to rate it 3 stars, because the shawarma is that good! Next time im getting a...
Read moreStopped by this afternoon around 3 to pick up supper for this evening. The owner/manager greeted me as I walked thru the door like I was family. Ordered (2) combination plates and an order of meat grape leaves rolls. When I opened the container later for supper I was SUPER IMPRESSED with the enormous amount of meat stuffed inside. Not only was the serving more than any other I’ve seen, the food was fresh and the high quality ingredients were obvious. The rice was really tasty and the gyros was a really nice texture and much leaner than what we have been getting. The chicken was brown, crispy and very moist all at the same time. Lots and lots of toppings such as the onions and tomatoes (I’am sure for those who don’t care for onions they can leave it off). Well, I’ll be back, at least weekly, I’ll...
