When we travel we like to eat, whether it be touristry or local foods. This weekend we traveled the 337 and ate some of the best the SWLA had to offer. On our way out of Lake Charles we wanted breakfast and after googling spots we picked Biscuts&Jamz based solely on the pics. Upon pulling up we knew there was going to be a wait. But a full house speaks for itself and a little wait should be worth it. While waiting other patrons spoke highly of the menu options and after getting ours we saw that decisions would definitely have to be made. Staff and Mgmt were friendly and answered all of our questions. The food was visually outstanding and the way flavors melted together was surprising. Fish, shrimp and grits was devine. The way the buttery shrimp and cheese comes together is wonderful. The Boudin Hash was great. The way the little chillis accented the rich flavors of the boudin and gravy was on point. Lastly, the Jams were fresh and not filled with sugar. It reminded us of our childhood picking and eating berries off the vines. Biscuts&Jamz is a must go to...
Read moreWe visited after reading the stellar online reviews and as a “foodie” I must be brutally honest with my review and admit that the food is just okay. This diner is more of a locals diner with uplifting gospel music playing throughout the restaurant. While our server Cierra is a nice young server, the food is very average diner food in my opinion. I had the waffle breakfast and I have had much more flavorful waffle batter. The sausage patty was lukewarm at best and just average, nothing to rave over. My husband had the fish, shrimp and grits and he thoroughly enjoyed the grits, but stated the shrimp were extremely small and reminded him of small salad shrimp. He also did not like the coffee as he said it had too many strong notes of chocolate that overpowered the coffee. Overall, it was just “okay” and next time we visit Lake Charles we’ll go back to our usual diner, KD’s Diner where we thoroughly enjoy the food...

We were visiting from out of town & didn’t want the typical chain restaurant breakfast…
This little place did not disappoint! The staff welcomed us in & were very friendly. Good luck deciding on one thing… every bit of the menu is tempting!
I settled on shrimp & grits & as you can see, I was so excited about them that I didn’t take the photo before getting ready for my first bite. It was a “happy dance” kinda meal!!
The plating was so beautiful! You’ll just have to go see for yourself now. It was savory & all of the flavors were well-balanced. (I’m from Texas and we do not have shrimp and grits down yet)
Also… coffee lovers… the coffee is absolutely amazing!! It’s a house blend, so you can only enjoy it there. I’d go just for a cup of coffee.
Last but definitely not least.. the JAMZ!! The gospel music chefs kiss!
Don’t sleep on this place! We will be going back next time we...
