Buffi's Peaux Boys — Restaurant in Lake Charles

I really wasn't very impressed, honestly I am disappointed. I have been seeing quite a few reviews on Google, Facebook, and yelp about how amazing Buffis is, and I have to say it is grossly overhyped. I have had Darrells, yes they have wonderful sandwiches but their service is non existent. Putters is by far my favorite po boy place in Lake Charles. Give them a try, absolutely amazing!

Interior was nice, I really liked all the Christmas decor. There was a lot of New Orleans decor, like street signs for Bourbon Street and Canal Street and several other little things. One thing that really was quirky to me was the way no 2 tables had the same chairs, some were metal backed, some were wooden, it was really cute to me. Overall place looked pretty clean on the inside.

Exterior was a bit plain, besides the sign. This isn't in the greatest location. You can't even see it from the road, I looked for a road sign but I didn't see one.

So when we came in the girl behind the counter was polite didn't really talk much but that's okay. We ordered the Special and the Shrimp Remoulade and 2 drinks, our total came out to be $32.

Okay on to the food, first we tried the Shrimp po boy, the Shrimp wasn't super fresh but it was seasoned well. Overall this sandwich wad good, my husband finished it. Then we tried my Special, I always get the Special in po boy places because most of them are always the same, so I can compare them and see which is best. I will say their gravy was pretty good, it didn't taste homemade but it was seasoned a lot so that coiuld have hidden the flavor a little bit. The bread, cheese, and mayo had to be my favorite part of the po boy though. The meat was terrible quality, it reminded me of the little $1 Jeanie- O bags you get at Wal-Mart. You could tell it isn't a great cold cut because I could see the processing, if you ever look at a cold cut and it has the same texture as bologna it's processed. The Scene

This quaint hole in the wall shop is just what I was searching for! I found it on Yelp and thought the entire drive there that I'd be dining on an All American Peaux Boy but the minute my eyes saw the Crawfish Boil Potaeaux I fell hard. I had to have it and boy did I get one -it was HUGE! The potato had to be two pounds and topped with spicy boiled crawfish, corn, sour cream, chives, and a heaping helping of seafood sauce. I had the other half for lunch the next day.

The Service The girls on staff were sweet and helpful explaining items as my party had questions. She checked on us for refills and brought boxes when she saw we were struggling.

Had to run an errand for someone, I stopped at Buffi’s for lunch (haven’t visited since before the hurricane, the location on Ryan St but kept hearing amazing reviews from friends.) I walked in at about 3:30pm, admittedly knowing they close at 4pm, and was greeted enthusiastically by Jac (thank you again Jac!). I asked if I could dine in given the time, and she didn’t hesitate to say yes that’s perfectly fine. I placed my order for a boudin peaux boy, she told me it’s slept on so I felt happy about my choice. I sat down with my drink, and maybe not even 5 minutes later I got my boudin peaux boy. WOW!!! Piping hot, FULL of boudin, pepperjack cheese, and dripping with jalapeño Mayo. After only a few bites of tasting heaven, Jac came by to ask me how it was. With a mouth full of food I didn’t hold back, “It’s amazing!” With Zydeco/cajun music playing at a perfect volume, beautiful decor inside, and a great staff to serve you, I will 1,000% recommend to try them if you haven’t. I be back ASAP to try more items from the menu....
