This is a place for locals to waste an entire morning meeting up to gossip. The table next to me was a large group of men gossiping/cussing loudly. It's not a place for a traveler to grab some good coffee/breakfast and be on their way. Waaaay overpriced. You order at a coffee counter for your coffee/food. I ordered a 16 ounce pumpkin latte half-sweet and pumpkin beignets. The latte tasted like they filled the cup with pure corn syrup and heated it up. Definitely not half sweet. The beignets were 3 plain, average beignets with a little sauce cup filled with spiced syrup for dipping. I was under the impression that there would be something pumpkin about the actual beignet. I have no idea what the prices are because there is not an itemized receipt. It's just a generic credit card receipt. The card reader seems to force you to tip up front with a 20% minimum tip before you can even decide if a tip is deserved. I supposedly got a military discount, but again, I have no idea since there is not an itemized receipt. All I know is that I got charged $15.34 plus a $2.93 tip for a total of $18.27. The food is handled in a completely different room between a cook and a lady running call-inn orders back and forth to the front door. The communication between the food room, coffee counter/register, and a to-go customer is non-existent. Once the coffee counter/register hands you your coffee, they act like your order is complete, leaving you wondering if your food was forgotten. The coffee took long enough, but another 15 minutes after the coffee someone finally showed up with a paper bag containg my beignets. Lots of standing and sitting in several different places hoping the employees noticed I was still there wating on something. I drank most of my heated syrup while waiting for the beignets. I went to Chick Fil A and got brewed coffee to dilute what was left of the syrup. I'll go to PJs if I'm in Lake...
Read moreWe tried Coffee:30 and they did not disappoint! You order at the counter and then seat yourself. The hospitality and knowledge of the menu was a quick 10/10! For starters we tried their Coffee:30 Beignets with strawberry drizzle on the side. My husband got the Cowboy Breakfast Bowl and I had the Alarm Clock Platter. They offer a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, bottled drinks and more. My husband had the breakfast blend coffee and I opted for a bottle of Dr. Pepper. Everything was simply amazing! The beignets came out piping hot and were a sweet pillowy melt in your mouth heaven but the strawberry drizzle just made the flavor explode! Eggs cooked perfectly, oh man the country potatoes, and some of the BEST thick cut applewood smoked bacon I’ve ever ate! Let me not forget the toast, you’ll have to try it to understand but the only words I have to describe it is crispy buttery goodness! There is a little station with complimentary water, condiments, and to go boxes which makes for a quick in and out meal not having to wait on a server to bring you these things. Although the price was higher than what we would usually like to pay for breakfast, it was a fair price considering the quality of food they offer. I would love to see a fountain soda machine but other than that everything was perfect. I would highly recommend you trying it because they have a great menu with something for everyone! Will definitely be back in the...
Read moreIf you are in the area stop in!!! This is such a quaint spot that serves breakfast and lunch all day. 😁
I ordered the Carmel macchiato, chicken and waffles the king cake beignets the cowboy bowl and side of grits with cheese.
The king cake beignets were so delectable I could have eaten 12 not really but you get the point 😂
The chicken and waffles was amazeballs. The chicken was seasoned and the bacon was nice and thick. The waffles were great and I’m a pancake person.
The cowboy bowl was served with an enormous plate of potatoes that were seasoned to perfection. The only thing I would suggest is serving it with 4 pieces of bacon instead of 2 🤪
Now the GRITS!!! Let me just say as a lover of grits these grits are special there is something very uniquely different but good. They didn’t have that normal “grit” texture. They were soft not creamy but soft and delicate. We sat and tried to figure it out and even asked the staff to ask the kitchen but it’s a “kitchen secret” I ain’t even mad at it.
The atmosphere was super nice and welcoming. Hoping y’all get to Houston to soon as we were told other coffee:30 are coming to the surrounding area. Y’all are lucky here in Lake Charles.
10 out of 10 I would recommend and come back!
Edit…I forgot…they also will grind the coffee beans to your specifications if requested for their in house coffee...
