Grotto Ristorante — Restaurant in Lake Charles

I rarely give out 1 star reviews. But this one is worthy. We had reservations for 6 people during the evening on the Sunday of Memorial weekend. First, let me preface this with I have eaten at the Grotto location in the Houston Galleria and I loved it, so I assumed this one would be the same. WRONG. We waited 30 minutes just to get seated because they were running behind on reservations. We then waited another 10 minutes just to have water brought to the table. And then after finally ordering drinks, they forgot our drink order. We started with an antipasti appetizer that I could have made better at home. It literally had bologna on it. For my main course, I had the cheese ravioli with vodka sauce that tasted like the exact vodka sauce Kroger sells. My boyfriend had a $28 snapper plate that looked like a luby's special. It was appalling. After finally requesting to speak to a manager ( I believe her name was Maria), they comped all of our alcohol which honestly did not make up for the extremely terrible service. It almost seemed like their entire staff had quit the day before, and that they had all new people that day? After 3 hours of hell we finally left. It was truly inexcusable and we will just have to stick with the Buffet at the Golden Nugget...

Entered the restaurant after standing at the hostess stand for several minutes without any acknowledgement. Proceeded to sit at the bar where we the whole bar was not cleaned. Waited several minutes before staff came over to remove only a few dirty dishes. Took more than 10 minutes to be acknowledged by the bar staff. Asked a wait person about changing one of the televisions to the basketball game and was told, “management does not have time to change the channel”. Bar staff took a drink order which after another 15 minutes we still never received. The restaurant was not too busy. This place had wait staff walking meaninglessness around in circles. Very unorganized and poor customer service. We frequent this hotel and found better service and food at the lounge across the way. WILL NOT RETURN to this restaurant...

Absolutely would not recommend coming here with any decent number in your group. Came in with a soon to be Bride and Groom and they did not get their food for over 2 hours!! Because of their seating arrangement, we were all split up at different tables and a few of the tables sat down after them and ate before them. When I went and talked to the host/manager he said “they were not expecting a big party so it backed up the kitchen”……it backed up your kitchen 2 hours where people that got here after them got their food before them and they still had to wait another hour??? That makes absolutely no sense!!! Extremely disappointed in the timeliness and response I received trying to take care of the bride and groom! Especially with the amount of money being spent here!!!
