I was in the restaurant business from age 14-40. I bussed tables at LeRuth's when I was 14 & worked there for 3 yrs. I went to college at UNLV & have a degree in Hotel Rest Mgmt. I spent 20 years in corporate rest & even was a Regional Mgr a life time ago at Landry's Seafood House. I say all of that to let you know it's not my 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd rodeo. My wife & I were coming to the Nugget to see Ron White & stay for a few days & unwind. My wife worked for Ruth Chris for many years & Chris's is her favorite restaurant. When ever we go out of town we try the best steakhouse in town. Until our visit to Vic & Anthony's we had not been to a steakhouse that she felt was as good as Chris's. Walking into the restaurant you can't help but be impressed. The ambience the feel the excitement were all there. Our Server was excellent. He was professional, attentive, knowledgeable & had a good presence. We felt welcomed & that we were in good hands from our 1st contact w/ him. We started w/ the Crab Cake & wow it was excellent. We both loved it tasted fresh had plenty crabmeat & was just great. Then she had the lobster bisque & I had the wedge salad. The bisque was also very good & had just an excellent taste. It was the perfect consistency even for late in the evening. Plenty places at that time in the evening you get lobster pudding. The creamy texture & robust flavor were spot on. The salad couldn't have been better. The blue cheese crumbles, the homemade bacon & the cold blue cheese dressing were all on point. So, until this point our expectations have been exceeded. She had a filet mr & I had the bone in ribeye both were cooked perfect & had excellent flavor. We had the salt service, creamed spinach, potatoes au grattin & brusells sprouts. The steaks were incredible we both enjoyed them thoroughly. The potatoes & spinach were sum of the best we have ever had. The only negative were the sprouts. They were mushy & cold. We throughly enjoyed ourselves! The sprouts didn't ruin an excellent evening. Thank you it is hard to get great service and great food in the same evening. You nailed it. Henry & Bonney Wallis

Treated my fiance here for his birthday. It was our first time going. Would return, but only for special occasions due to pricing. We made reservations online. I don't think it's worth it for the price when you can find equally as good food for less $. If you are looking to impress, sure go for it, but there are many LC classy restaurants that blow this place out of the water with their food. Spending that kind of money makes me feel forced to like their food more than I really did. Atmosphere: very dark but cozy. Most noise comes from the bar area. White table cloths and dressed up waiters/waitresses. They have tables and nice cozy booths. Service: very friendly and welcoming. Able to speak about specials and recommendations. Knowledgeable about menu items. Fairly attentive. Food: expensive but was good. I did not care for their bread served at the tables because it was really hard. Their calamari appetizer was good- seemed to have a chili sauce with it. We also ordered medium rare steaks which were good, although my steak was really rare. Also ordered the mac and cheese and it was one of the best mac and cheeses I've ordered at a restaurant- creamy, seasoned and cooked well. My fiance got a baked potato and it was ginormous (like 2 potatoes worth). They offer a variety: Fish, lobster, steak, lamb, salads, caviar, pork chops, pasta, bisque, etc. Pricing: For 2 steaks with hollandaise & butter, ceasar salad, mac & cheese, potato, calamari, 1 alcoholic beverage, and 2 regular drinks it was $250. When ordering, the sides are separate charges.

Having had a few amazing experiences at the Houston location, I was sad to see that things didn’t measure up the same here. The overall service itself was great and we had no hiccups there. For appetizers, the east coast oysters tasted great, but were definitely much larger than I’ve had in the past. Unfortunately, our steaks and sides didn’t nearly match up to the same level. All of our steaks felt under seasoned, both in terms of salt and pepper (no real char at all). My medium rare actually came out looking almost worse than even rare - which they did correct, but still let me without an entree for an extra 5-10 min. The sides of mashed potatoes and French fries were both underwhelming as well, with the fries being pretty soggy and the mashed potatoes on the bland side. Thankfully the entire meal ended on a high note, as the Croissant Bread Pudding did turn out as great as it normally does. All in all, it was a decent, but definitely unspectacular, steakhouse dining experience.

Taking off a star for service. We went here for NYE and it was our first time at this location, we usually go to the one in Houston- which is fabulous in every way. For starters, our waiter was terrible. When he finally came over, we gave him our appetizer order at that time. He said he'd put it right in. When he came back again, we gave him another order for a different appetizer (shrimp cocktail). He said he'd bring them both out together. It took 40 minutes to get just the appetizers. When our entre's arrived, my husband's steak was barely warm and extremely tough for medium rare. I had to wait a few extra minutes for my lobster tail. It was sitting on a serving tray. The waiter said he needed to get a knife to cut it off the shell and that he'd be right back. He did dash off quickly, but when he came back he had a side of asparagus for the neighboring table. He chatted with them as he delivered it, and then left and never came back with the lobster or the knife. Meanwhile my lobster is getting cold. Another server had dropped by to give the table a refresh and clean up crumbs from the bread. He noticed I wasn't eating. He finished cleaning the table and then set off to find a knife for my lobster. Our original waiter had still not returned with the knife, and was checking on other tables. My lobster is still sitting a distance on the serving tray. He had totally forgotten. By the time I got to my $130 lobster, it was barely warm. My husband became frustrated with the outcome of his steak and stopped eating it. We explained the dissatisfaction with the steak and lobster to the waiter. He asked if we would like for it to be warmed up! What a mess. The manager deducted the steak from our bill. Overall, it was just an unpleasant experience. I think the waiter simply kept forgetting about us.....and our food. Nothing arrived at the table hot. Waiting 40 minutes for appetizers was absurd, especially since we gave the order at the first greeting. We only added the shrimp because we had already been waiting 20 minutes for the first appetizer- we thought the shrimp would come out quick, but it didn't. It was a busy night, but the restaurant wasn't full. There were plenty of empty tables. I do believe this maybe a good location, it just wasn't for us. We will continue to frequent the...

My family had a very special birthday coming up and they made reservations at Vic & Anthony’s for the evening... but as I live far away and could not attend, I thought to call V&A to see if I could arrange an extra special celebration for them, with all the bells and whistles, and for the entire evening to be covered, as a little surprise. I spoke with Ryan, the manager, about the details of what I wanted. He said no problem.... took down my credit card info, and then assured me that my family would be treated to a wonderful and very special birthday celebration... only the best! - But... unfortunately none of what we discussed happened. He evidently forgot all about it and/or didn’t make the arrangements with the wait staff? My family arrived, sat down, ordered their dinner, paid their bill and left... without even an acknowledgement of their birthdays, much less any special details or surprises... nor was the meal paid for! Ugh. (And to boot, the waiter spilled their wine, forgot several things... not at all the special evening we discussed or planned...) The “special” evening we can never get back was a bust, thanks to Ryan and Vic & Anthony’s. And to make matters worse, despite having both my numbers, I received no phone call, no acknowledgement nor any apology for their mistake. I have since tried calling them multiple times to find out what went wrong, and to make sure my credit preauthorization is handled appropriately, but I only got as far as the girl at the reservation desk... after giving my name and waiting for Ryan to be summoned, I was told each time that the manager was unavailable to talk with me, but that he would “call me back”... which of course, he never did. I will be trying once again today, to make sure my authorization is shredded, but I’m not optimistic that I will get Ryan on the phone. - I expected SO MUCH more from V&A... good food, good hospitality, good service, and professionalism. But they really dropped the ball. From this point forward, my family and I will look elsewhere for our fine dining. There are so many other wonderful places in Lake Charles to enjoy a nice evening, good service and a delicious meal. Vic & Anthony’s ineptitude and unprofessionalism assures we will not be...
