Just made our second trip to this beautiful old building. The first was stop a few months back was excellent. Beer was fantastic, food was very good, and we loved the experience. This time was the exact opposite. We knew we’d get there around 9:00, so I called to make sure they’d still be open and that they would still be serving food. The guy on the phone said they closed at 12:00, and the kitchen closed at 10:30. We walked in before 9:30, and ordered our beers. Asked for waters as well, and were directed to the self serve cooler (which was empty). Notified them of the empty water cooler, then looked over the menu. Decided what we wanted to eat, and walked back up to the bar to order. This is when we were notified the kitchen had already closed, and when we said we called they just kinda shrugged their shoulders. Decided to finish our beer, and find food elsewhere. Right about this time we noticed lipstick still on the rim of one of our glasses. No one in our party was wearing lipstick. They gave us another pour, but again were dismissive. Went to pay and had to remind them they held my card when we first ordered. I did take note that a couple of others paid without a card held. Guess they treat non regulars differently. Super disappointed in this experience, because we absolutely loved it last time....
Read moreThis is an awesome brewery! I’ve gone to several new breweries in the past few weeks and this has the best beer without question. I tried multiple styles and they were all top notch. The small batch jolly rancher flavored beers were great and I’m glad I got to try them before they’re gone. The building itself is super cool and has a great story behind it. A simple google search can produce a good read on the history of the building and founding of Halpatter. I only had the jumbo pretzel appetizer for food, and that was very good. The patio space makes for a fun atmosphere and it’s a great place to listen to music. I got to speak briefly with one of the owners, Chris, and he’s definitely passionate about his beer and his community. The way they’re giving back and revitalizing downtown is awesome to witness! Overall, a great experience from the building to the beer to the people. The mojo is great and there’s nothing else like it around the area. I’d drive out of my way to visit here again. One side note: if you sit in the leather seat area be aware that the door leading to the patio slams...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped in to Halpatter Brewing Company for lunch and drinks on Fathers Day. The building was an old post office and the wood flooring was original. Awesome cypress slab work behind the bar. And of course the eclectic selection of brews on tap, from Irish ales, to pale ales, ipas, stouts, and an array of sours. We started with the sour flight and ordered the Monte Cristo sandwiches with fries: boy was it delectable. The sours were super sweet, a little too much for my taste but my wife loved the sours as the sweetness was up her alley. My next beer was the Florida IPA and that was probably one of the best IPA’s I have ever had. I had three of them. The service was fantastic and there was a few games around the building to play; ping pong, cornhole, croquette, and lawn dice to name a few. So many options to choose from if you didn’t want to just hang out. Make sure you stop in for food and drinks at Halpatter Brewing Co in Lake City next time you...
