Pizza Boy Pizza — Restaurant in Lake City

This place is THE BEST Italian takeout - hands down. I come all the way from Gainesville to enjoy this place with my family. It's so good! Everything is made from scratch-- &if it isn't, you cannot tell! The pizza 🍕 is what started our love for this place. Tonight we explored more of their menu. My husband got Baked Ziti w/meatballs & it was such a huge portion, that he'll have lunch for tomorrow. We give the bake Ziti an 8.8 , absolutely amazing! I wanted the Philly sandwich? However, they were out of rolls because they are made fresh daily & it's 6:30pm on a Tuesday. So, instead I got the Ranch Chicken Wrap, which was the best wrap ever, I added bacon, however they forgot to add it. I still give the wrap a 9.5 out of 10. The wrap was definitely made from scratch. So delicious! My daughter had the Chef Salad, she would give the salad a 7 out of 10. Which is understandable as it was iceberg lettuce instead of romaine. Sprucing the quality would definitely give the salad a better score. My son had the Spaghetti & meatballs, he said he would rate it a 5.7 out of 10. Said more seasoning & to add parmesan cheese. I personally thought the sauce should have been thicker. The Garlic knots were great! I would rate them 8.6. The cinnamon knots were freaking amazing, with the icing being an additional $1 charge I feel it's not something you should be charged for ..it should come with it. I would give the Cinnamon knots without the icing a 7.5, & with it would be a 9.7 . We loved them so much we bought a baker's dozen to take home with 5 additional icing . .icing is made from scratch as well. We also, bought a 16in pizza which was good, but something tasted like something was missing..?? Not sure if they missed a step or changed the recipe 🤔. The dough was harder & way more denser...why change something that was perfect 😭😭? Overall rating of this place would be a 9 out of 10. Customer service was amazing & very friendly! Atmosphere here totally sucks! Its very oudated & not a friendlyatmosphere hardly any seating whatsoever. The patio furniture inside this place should be a joke. There werent enough bar stools at the bar counter...they definitely need to expand. I could see this Italian takeout place becoming an amazing restaurant. It only takes a little imagination & passion. Honestly though, this place would be the best Italian restaurant in lake city if they would just relocate...

4 years ago this was my review: 5 stars across the board. Never a disappointment! This place is awesome, it's employees are incredible, the food is delicious. In the 8 years we've been coming to this establishment, we've NEVER had a single complaint. We are always 100% satisfied with every aspect of Pizza Boy. They have awesome lunch specials and dinner deals, they're fast, the food is fresh and it's fairly priced. Ask about the "TRUNK PIZZA." 😉

Today, January 30, 2024, I'm sad to say I'm pretty disappointed with the quality and service pizza boy has delivered over the last couple of years. This evening, my family and I ordered two large pizzas with several additional toppings (which was pretty expensive, all things considered) and when we got the pizzas home, we found they were missing toppings. Normally, I wouldn't grudge a place for small mistakes, but I figured I'd call and touch base to find out what happened and get my refund through doordash. When I called a young sounding female answered the phone, said she couldn't hear me and when I was finally able to explain the situation she stated they ran out of one of the ingredients of the two missing. Which is understandable, it happens, but when I asked why there was no attempt to communicate that to us or to refund us for those extra toppings (which cost extra, make no mistake) the phone went silent and then they hung up. When I called back again, they would not answer. I called back from a different number, but again no answer and their voice-mail is full so there's no way to request a call back. This is just one of many instances where we've noticed the quality has decreased and customer service has been lacking. We used to know just about everyone in the restaurant over the last 13 years, but now it seems like mostly teens running the store - which again is cool and all, but not if they're not going to at least attempt to give halfway decent customer service. It's just sad to see, as this local mom and pop was THE place in Lake City to get the best pizza around. Now, it's just like all the rest, average pizza with mediocre customer...

Cant tell when they are opened or closed? Closed on sundays? Weekend nights? That's crazy. Sunday is when people are off, drink beer, order pizza and watch football. Terrible way to run a business. Pizza was too salty, greasy, and smaller for a large. I might try a huge pie next time, but orob wont be going back considering the prices. If I do, I'd see if they can not add so much salt. It wasnt bad but dang I needed a gallon of water after that. Oh and it's not really the best place in town or that authentic like they claim. I've been to New York. Just saying dont make yourselves overated by bragging at customers when they walk in. Cook was out front smoking in his apron and stared me down while I approached the place. Did not care for that...
