Had an extremely unpleasant experience today at the Lake City Starbucks.
A beverage I wanted iced was defaulted to hot when ordering in the app (I went based on the image and thought it looked like the iced version). Luckily when the employee went to verify the temperature at the speaker, we caught it. He very condescendingly said I must not understand how the app worked if I wanted a cold version.
When I tried to explain why I made the mistake by saying the images looked similar (because it felt as though he was implying I was trying to save the extra dollar or so for the cold), he interrupted me and exasperatedly said he guessed they’d make an exception for me this one time. His tone and the accusation of me trying to scam a more expensive beverage at a lower price upset me, so I asked “How about we cancel the app order altogether and reorder the right drink?” (so there wasn’t a discrepancy in charge). He sighed and said “How about not? We’re already making it.” and told me to pull forward.
If I could have canceled the order and gotten out of the line, I would have, but there’s no space to leave. When I got to the window, I was greeting with an ingratiating grin and realized as I drove off that the straw was one of the commonly defective ones that are still sealed at one end, so I had to bite it off to be able to drink my beverage.
I was trying to make a simple error right and in the process was unnecessarily belittled and dismissed.
I have worked in fast food and many other thankless jobs before so I understand there is higher stress at the holiday season, but my attempt to rectify my own mistake was met with unnecessary venom. It’s indicative of an environment that thinks very little of customers when you can no longer distinguish between those who are entitled and those who are trying to meet...
Read moreI waited in the drive-through line ordered an unsweetened large tea. They put sugar in it. I am allergic to sugar so I go to the door hold up my card that says Gone With The Sugar and hold up the tea. The manager comes to the door. I tell her what has happened, instead of apologizing for the mistake she says I need to back up. She took my tea poured it out in the bushes and told me I had to go get back in line. By this time the line is even longer. I call and ask for the manager and it is the same person. This is the third time this has happened at that Starbucks I told the woman I’m beginning to think they’re doing it on purpose. If the staff working here is that stressed that they cannot tell the difference between sugar and not sugar maybe they need to close this store until they can get people who can work under pressure and show some customer service. They...
Read moreDirtiest Starbucks I've ever been in. I hate to give negative reviews, unless they are warranted. We stopped here for coffee and to use the restroom. The bathroom we used was extremely dirty - deep set dirt, possibly never cleaned? We had to wait awhile for our drinks, as they were super busy, which is totally understandable. As we waited, I noticed the smudges, smears, dust and grime on all surfaces of the drink/food prep areas - old, like never cleaned. The countertop where drinks were handed over were just as bad. The management here must not be into a regular cleaning schedule, like is required by most food service providers. Gross and surprising.
Edit: Just realized one of our drinks was leaking and filling our cup holder with coffee. Yay! I don't blame the batista, but it was an added bonus to our...
