Me and my fiancee just dined at this restaurant and we're very shocked and disappointed. We ordered the bbq chicken and bbq ribs. The bbq ribs where tough/hard and didn't taste like traditional thai bbq ribs. My fiancee ordered the bbq chicken and when she took her first bite she looked right at me wide eyed, and shocked because the chicken was super cold (fridge temp) but the chicken on the outside looked cooked and had the bbq grill marks. Then we rejected the food and gave it back to them and made the waitress touch the chicken and she completely agreed it was still frozen. So I assume the previously cooked left over chicken was put back in the freezer at one point then taken out for our order and they tried to reheat it on the grill real quick but failed miserably. I can't believe they served that to us. We are disappointed especially we were so hungry and craving thai food. Plus after all this they barely cared on what happened. Except for the kind waitress, she apologized (maybe they made her go apologize even if it wasn't her fault) The owner or manager or cook didn't say anything at all and was careless. Plus they still had the audacity to charge us. Wow! Really? BS! Is this a food and health code violation? If so, I would like to know. If anyone reading this review knows the answer to my question please...
Read moreCame here the other day to try out some Thai Food in south OC. I found this place and decided to give it a shot.
It's pretty easy to find Elephant Cafe as its located on the very corner of that intersection. It sits next to a Nail Saloon so look for some really bright lights and youre at the right place.
I order my food via their website and picked it up, but walking in, the restaurant itself was small and cozy so I can definitely see myself coming back and ordering to eat inside. I ordered the Pad See Ew with Chicken, Pineapple Fried Rice, Chicken Satay and Thai Tea. The food was delicious and really hit the spot. What really took the spot for the night was indeed the Pad See Ew. The Pineapple Fried Rice was really good as well but there was only like two shrimp. The Chicken Satay was good as well but I definitely had better.
Overall, I would definitely come back since this place is just so convenient and...
Read moreDid you ever wish for a portal that transports you to Thailand in an instant without the jetlag? You can, just step inside this little glorious food haven. It looks like an innocuous little place, but the food is so heavenly. Don't bother with the appetizers and just head straight for the entrees. Hope you're not wearing socks, because you're going to lose them: the spicy and savory panang curry was so rich, every bite was like my tongue was enrobed in a silky coconut broth bright with keffir lime. The pad thai noodles were hot and chewy and complemented with a tangy, sour tamarind sauce and crispy veggies. Oh, lawd, I am already making plans to come back. Don't miss out on a trip and taste seriously good Thai food. Seriously, it's one of those places where everything I tried in one visit was so good, I'd bet I could try everything on the menu...
