Manila Food Mart — Restaurant in Lake Forest

Disappointed with the Service. Hoping for Better Customer Care

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I wanted to share my recent experience in hopes it helps improve customer service here.

I placed a phone order for my niece’s small house party with a few of her college friends. The person who took my order gave me a total and said I could pay in person at pickup. Later on, I decided it would be easier for my niece if I paid ahead of time, so I called back.

That’s when I was told there had been a miscalculation on my original total. I completely understood, mistakes happen and I was fine with the updated amount.

However, I was caught off guard by the tone of voice and it felt a bit dismissive when I asked for an itemized bill, which I think is a fair request.

What really stood out though was during my next call to make the payment. The original staff member that took my order, answered the phone pleasantly at first, but as soon as she realized it was me, she was SHOUTING “CALL IN 5 MINUTES!” without any explanation and hung up. It felt unprofessional and left me really disappointed.

I understand that things get busy and mistakes happen, but a little patience and kindness towards customers goes a long way.

One of the places we eagerly visited right after we moved to Laguna Woods. It's a short, convenient drive to satisfy our craving for Filipino food. We got two entrees using the half white rice, half tasty pansit deal and we were very pleased. Another Filipino restaurant is nearby but we liked this better because of its atmosphere — well lit, clean, and very friendly servers. Good variety and choices of entrees too. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I called in an order at the Manila Food Mart, but I decided to save myself some cooking time and ordered some Filipino food to go for a dinner with friends! Got the Pancit Bihon, Lumpia Shanghai (which they nicely offered to do as a half-and-half of pork and chicken), and some delicious pork skewers.
