Veterans Park, formerly known as Village Pond Park, was re-dedicated after more than a year of redesigning, draining and installing . I haven't been to this park in several years because it was often over run with ducks and geese along with their numerous droppings. The look and smell was definitely unappealing
The redesigned park now features meandering sidewalks, an updated lake shore, a butterfly garden and a veterans monument to honor members of each branch of the armed forces - living up to the park's new name. On our visit yesterday, we found a clean and well maintained park. The village put considerable effort to scare away the wildfowl and we saw only three ducks in the water. We were pleasantly surprised to even find a small heron on the island. Do not bring food for the ducks as a hefty fine is possible. The walking path was about 1/2 mile long with plenty of places st stop and rest or enjoy the view. New trees were planted as well as numerous plants and flowering bushes. There were several picnic tables also. No parking lot but plenty of...
Read moreLooks brand new. It's definitely not a natural park, but it's a well-done man-made one. Lots of paths, lots of benches, plenty of water and dozens of picnic tables. Parking is decent. The walking paths wind beautifully among the trees and a man-made lake. There are two water attractions which make you feel cool just looking them. If you want to bring your blankets down for a picnic or nice rest in the park, there's plenty of green grass. I wouldn't say it's the smoothest grass I've ever walked on, but there's quite a bit of it. Safety is always a concern for me I'd like to say that I felt very secure here. It's very open to both ends of the park and there's quite a bit of traffic that goes by so that you never feel like you're in a secluded place alone. Lots of dog walkers and people walkers. Everyone seemed nice, respectful, and courteous. When I go to this park again? I definitely would! If you enjoyed my review, please LIKE...
Read moreThis is a cute man made pond that pays beautiful tribute to Veterans. I especially loved the plaques that showed the birth dates of each military branch. There were cute little path ways benches and lots of tables and chairs.
Minor complaints.I know because this park was just redone, the ducks haven't mapped this back on their migration route. But I hope the ducks come back. It would be nice if they could put in trees, umbrellas or something of the sort to create some shade. And finally I don't understand the importance or meaning of the target lantern decorations. Maybe put a plaque in somewhere that explains why...
