Sashimi is a sushi restaurant located at the corner of Lake Forest Drive and Dimension Drive. It appears to be run by a Korean family and is a popular spot among the locals. They have a sushi bar, but we opted to dine at a table. Steve greeted us and was not only friendly and helpful, but his service level enhanced our overall dining experience.
We tried a number of dishes during our visit. Among my favorites were the Veggie Tempura, Salmon Nigiri, Lake Forest Roll (I appreciate that they allow substitutions so I subbed spicy yellowtail in place of the spicy tuna) and Special Carpaccio S. The Spicy Salmon cut roll was nothing special and tasted more like a California Roll. The Yellowtail Cheek was good, but it was more meaty and less tender than I've enjoyed at other Japanese restaurants. My wife ordered the Pink Lady, but I prefer my sushi with rice. All in all, we enjoyed our Sashimi experience and I'd recommend checking it out if you're in Lake Forest and in the mood for raw fish at a...
Read moreI loved going to this restraint when it was at its previous location. This was the first, and will be my last, to visit the new location. I did walk in at what appeared to be a busy time (about 12:50 pm) and my order was taken rather quickly. One sushi roll should have not taken 40 minutes. Yup, I finally walked out after 40 minutes of waiting and still ‘NO FOOD.’ They had two sushi chefs working who seemed to be filling many call in/take-out orders and catering well to the drunk lunchtime clientele. Maybe they gave one of them my order by mistake. It was only one item and I kept justifying the reason why it was taking so long. But, one server could not be the reason. However, in that 40 minute time frame she did not come to see how I was once. I’ve never felt more invisible in a...
Read moreThis is near other sushi spots, and we stopped in while having lunch in the area, which we found on Yelp. My opinion was a little pricey for lunch. Rolls were $15 to $25 for lunch. We went with 5 rolls to share, and the chef sent us one special item, which was salmon and crab avocado and lemon. Miso soup was just ok. Salad was good with an interesting dressing. Our first roll was mostly white fish, and the group felt that it was a little fishy. not our favorite. The rest was tastie. I chose the incorrect roll and wanted the Hawaiian roll but ended up with a baked salmon roll. The staff was excellent and friendly. nice little inside and nicer outside.outside. The server put the edeame put on the table to share complements of the house...
