Sunny Up Cafe — Restaurant in Lake Forest

Tried here on a recommendation. This is the same cafe inside the Chevron/car wash on the corner of Alton/portola. Looks like new owners and a new menu. The selection is a little something for everyone from traditional omelettes, Mexican entrees, breakfast burritos, pancakes, French toast even ribeye steak and eggs. Entering, it's the same setup as the previous owners but has a definite look of very good cleanliness. Wife had the ribeye steak and eggs. I got the loco Moco which was odd but welcome to see a Hawaiian staple on the menu. I did takeout rather than dine in. Arrival home I inspected the entrees and was happy to see the presentation and appearance was good. Wife had the steak and liked it. I chowed down on the loco Moco. My impression on the latter is it's a fusion spin on the dish. It was a bit healthier as the patty was slathered with a generous portion of diced grilled mushrooms that made it pop. I quite liked it. We will return to try the more regular cafe type items in the future based on the experience. They have online ordering on their website.

Second day: we ordered online and got the chorizo omelette and Eggs Benedict. Wife loved the huge omelette. The eggs Benedict was on par with high end restaurants that would cost more than double the price. Hollandaise was on point and delicious. Don't let the location fool you! My friends recommended this place as a new spot for us to try out. It's located within the ExtraMile gas station and it just recently opened.

For the place to be located in a gas station, I wasn't expecting not only the food to taste that good but I didn't expect the portion sizes to be that big either!!

I only paid about $5 for my taco and it filled my entire plate and my appetite. The woman who was helping to serve was on top of her game!

The moment I came in, she greeted me with a Good Morning and a smile. After taking my order and serving the other girls, she was still so attentive and friendly and accommodating. I wish I got her name, but I wanted to say THANK YOU for your kindness (I'll get your name the next time I come in!)

Overall, for the first time, I give it a 4/5! Only because my meat was a little on the dry end.

But I look forward to trying...

This is literally four hard booths inside the AM PM. I thought it was a joke when I pulled up. If you are hard up for food while getting gas it's fine. The food is very basic breakfast but with a weird menu. No option for just eggs bacon and toast.
