You have the best bagels. I like most of your customers have been coming to your business for years. The low star reviews and the owner’s responses paint a unique picture of frustration. I have also been in the food business for over 30 years, and I understand the challenges that every business is currently facing during this pandemic. Most of the challenges have been there prior to the pandemic but we never had an excuse like today. Not enough staff, expenses increasing, the demand for the product fluctuates daily, food waste and lastly the stress of the owner to put the time and effort into the business. We may be the owners of a business on paper, but the true owners are our customers. Our customer’s needs will dictate our hours of operation and level of customer service that is expected in every business. Telling customers the hours are posted and to call ahead for order sizes that are not that large is unrealistic. Being curt to customers is not new due to the pandemic. Read moreI love a good authentic bagel shop! Mannie's did not disappoint and I'm in love!
I was starving and on this side of town. I wanted a quick breakfast and am very much into smaller bagel shops. I found this one not far from the new Meijer that I've been hitting up on Lapeer road, so I was excited to give it a try.
Walking in, the place is smaller, with really only a bar for seating 4. It's really a carry out bagel shop to be honest. It very much reminds me of NY Bagel Company in West Bloomfield off Orchard Lake Road, which is a (very) good thing. (that's my favorite bagel shop that nobody can beat.) but this place really does just as good of a job.
The menu's pretty decent and the prices are fabulous. There was already a line and it was barely 8 AM on a Saturday. I got an egg and cheese bagel for only $4?! WHAT? Hell, if I was hungrier I would have gotten two. LOL. They even have real lox cream cheese here which when done correctly, is very delicious.
They have a drink cooler here with bottled water, a variety of juices and cans of Arnold Palmers. Drinks aren't cheap, but I grabbed one anyway. Bottled water was $3, as were most juices. My total bill for an egg and cheese sandwich with an apple juice? $7.41. Not bad. Food was tasty and bagels were awesome.
Give this place a try. It's...
