I had high expectations of this place but was disappointed with the service. It was painfully slow. It took 20 minutes for my beer to arrive! Food took ages to come to table. Tastewise food was good. Outdoor umbrellas need to be bigger as the scorching heat made it uncomfortable for guests. The water spray and the fan was a good touch and helped a bit. In terms of presentation, the fish and chips need to have a better balance; plate had a huge amount of chips, which is unnecessary. Creme Brulee was great; no eggy taste, which is how it should be done. Restrooms were also very clean; so another plus point there. However, this place automatically charges 18% gratuity. I don't think the service quality deserved that to be honest, and if this was at customers' discretion, 5% would be a fair amount. Given the 35 minute drive and what I received in return, I will probably not revisit. Sorry...there are far better alternatives in the area. You need to step up your game.

NEIGHBORHOOD HOTSPOT Gubanc’s is one of LO’s treasured eateries and for a good reason. They have a cozy interior restaurant and a delightful patio with misters for when it’s hot. The service is top notch and I appreciate their team approach to hospitality. Their full menu is diverse and full of tasty options. You can feel confident bringing a vegetarian here, as they have many delicious options including a quinoa burger. My favorite sando is the halibut with housemade tartar sauce. I also really like the pan fried snapper dish and look forward to trying the bacon-wrapped meatloaf on a winter day in the future. Happy hour keeps my husband and I coming back. We can get a satisfying meal for a very fair price with excellent cocktails to wash the good grub down. The steak bites are Uh May Zing and I really like their take on crab dip.

Good food. Heartless service. Came in for my birthday with my parents and we were really looking forward to it. It’s a big deal to go out when you are in your 80’s. The snobby and inconsiderate service just ruined the whole experience. Food was fairly good. Reuben was moist and tasty. Fish and chips had a perfect breading and nice sized portion. Salad with wild salmon was lovely with shredded carrots and a few delightful pickled beets. We arrived with one walker for a parent and it was handled as if we had come in with a wild pig or something. From then on the servers treated us like interlopers who stayed too long, although we were in and out in 90 mins. When they brought our drinks they only bothered to reach about 12ā€ over the table with them, requiring our older parents to reach 3’ across, resulting in them spilling their drinks and being very embarrassed. Instead of offering us something to clean the mess, the drink server acted disgusted and left us to fumble for Kleenex to wipe the table ourselves. Our main server did not check back to ask how things are going until we had finished our meals, when she declared, ā€œAll done then? I’ll get your check,ā€ without waiting for our answer. My mom said,ā€ Well it’s clear they want to get rid of usā€. Actually we had been looking forward to some dessert but the server made it clear we were not even welcome to ask ourselves about a dessert menu, when she tossed the check on the corner of the table and rushed off. No one even asked if we had enjoyed the meal. Then they told us to ā€œhave a nice night.ā€ The restaurant adds 18% gratuity to all bills and I’m guessing that has made it so their servers feel they can treat people however they want. We usually tip 20-25% but did not add anything to the bill this time. We had not acted unpleasantly or been uncouth. We were dressed no worse than anyone else and we treated the staff with much more respect than we received back. Management should consider sensitivity training for these servers as they clearly don’t know how to treat older folks or maybe they just treat everyone with that...

We have been going to Gubanks for a long time, found the food and the service to be good most of the time and great occasionally. However the quality of the food in the last four or five weeks Has dropped to the point we no longer want to go to this restaurant. Two different times we ordered sandwiches with bacon in it only to receive bacon so burnt and hard I was worried it would break my teeth. I actually have sores behind my two front teeth where it scraped the skin off of my pallette today. Last week I was so angryg that, not only did he burn the bacon but that he looked at the burnt bacon as he put it on my sandwich and served it to me anyway for only $13 , that I sent it back. Now much to my dismay going back to day I find that he is not only burning my bacon but my companions bacon and as we were leaving I saw fish and chips up on the stand getting ready to be taken to a table by a waitress and it was burnt also. I am hoping that that person refuse to eat it and sent it back. I also noticed that the 6 pieces of bacon I used to get on the sandwich I now only get 3 a small slice of tomato on each half and a limp piece of romaine lettuce. I could make this crappy sandwich at home for a lot less. Was not entirely thrilled with the soup today either which was turkey bacon lettuce and tomato it had croutons in it that were soggy and the tomatoes came out of a can.. not too much to brag about there. Also it takes close to 40 the 45 minutes from the time you get there until you get your food. Whoever is giving this restaurant four stars must be used to some really horrible horrible food. the third person of our party today who paid the bill was so upset he would not even...

Ordered beet & apple salad. My fault for not reading more carefully because it was mostly kale which always seems to me like damp, thin, green colored cardboard. This was one of that effect I’ve encountered. I brushed most of it aside.- should have taken picture to show (by volume) that I didn’t eat more than 1/2 of salad.

Beet & apple pieces were diced small - very small. The tiny chicken bits were so dry that I drank water to help get my protein down.

Service? Indifferent, but it was getting near quitting time. They charge mandatory 18% tip, which I general agree with (now that I know they do it- it’s possible for new customer to not see pertinent notification). Service last night does inform customer there’s no statement they can make, vis a vis tip amount to express disappointment. I don’t like to call on management - almost nothing that sinks to that level for me.

I don’t do reviews but this opportunity was plunked down in front of me and I’m still stewing about last night. So, here we...
