Based upon prior positive experiences when getting pizza from Alley Cats, my family decided to enjoy pizza for a meal during a trip to town for the 4th of July. On July 03, I noticed an Alley Cats Pizzeria advertisement on social media for half price pizzas on Tuesdays. Because of July 04th being on Tuesday and understanding that many businesses do not apply discounts on holidays, I tried contacting the restaurant on July 03 but their phones were not working. So, I drove down to the Strip to inquire in-person if the discount was being honored on the 4th and the answer from a bartender was yes, the discount applies to July 04.
Fast forward and I attempt to call the restaurant on July 04 to place an order (4 pizzas) and the phones were still not fully resolved, so I drove to the Strip again to place the order. The bartender taking my order (different one from the prior day) informs me that the Tuesday pizza discount only applies to dine-in and that the policy had been changed by the owner within the last couple weeks. Since Alley Cats was my family's evening meal plan, I placed the order and came back 90 minutes later to pick it up. This time I was greeted by the manager to accept my payment and I asked for clarification about the discount, referencing my prior day's conversation with an employee and that none of the restaurant's social media communications about the discount stated dine-in only. The manager did not have a good answer for me, admitted that their advertisements should state dine-in only, and then proceeded to make a snide comment about why would they honor the discount for take out. I acknowledge that they want people to dine in so that they can generate margin off of other items (i.e.- alcohol); I get it, but that's not the point. After handing me my change and my pizzas (and after making the snide comment about take out), the manager couldn't even bother to thank me for buying $90+ worth of pizza.
Sorry Alley Cats, but your customer service just turned this family from being promotors to being detractors. I'll buy my pizza...
Read moreWent with some friends for a birthday weekend. The bartender (guy with spiked hair) almost didn’t serve me because I had a paper ID. I am almost 30. I presented my paper ID and my voided real ID that expired one day ago. He said the cops wouldn’t let him accept it, until I gave him a hard time about giving him both IDs. I Ordered lemon drop shots with Deep Eddy Lemon. He poured a full shot glass of Deep Eddy Lemon… no mixer. Although we appreciate the generous pour… it was not what I was wanting.
We left and tried some other bars, but ultimately ended back at this end of the strip. When we came back, they appeared to be cleaning up, so we asked if they were still serving. We had a group of 7. The same bartender said they were closing soon. We asked if we could serve a round of drinks or if we needed to go elsewhere. He re-iterated that they were closing soon. We clarified if we needed to go elsewhere or if we needed to go elsewhere. He said to the guy that asked that he wasn’t going to serve him and if he kept asking that he wasn’t going to serve anyone in our group. After the first bad experience and then the awkward ending, we decided not to get another drink and left for the...
Read moreAlley Cats is a bar and restaurant on the Bagnell Dam Strip at the Lake of the Ozarks. It was recommended by friends.
It was a disappointment-except for the salads.
We stopped in for lunch and ordered two Bloody Mary's. They were the worst Bloody Mary's we have ever had. They were practically clear as if they were mostly water. Virtually flavorless. My friend could not even drink hers.
We had heard raves about the pizza from a number of people, so we ordered a pie. Although the pizza looked good when it arrived, it failed to deliver. Lack of flavor was the problem. It tasted okay, but was very bland. Really bland.
We each also ordered a salad with their house dressing. The salads were, by far, the high point of the meal. They looked good, were crisp and full of flavor. Thumbs up on the salads!
Alley Cats has a great location. It's a cozy spot with indoor and outdoor seating. But the pizza, during our visit,...
