This morning was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to take him out for breakfast. I’ve been here several times before and had excellent food and service, so I took him there today around 10:30. It was a Thursday. We needed to wait a bit because capacity has been cut in half. No problem. All the service people were very friendly. Once seated, our waitress, Sue, greeted us, and proceeded to take our order. All good so far. So we waited and waited and watched. We were near the kitchen so I could see box after box of takeout orders going out. But very few plated orders. After 25 minutes, I went to the front to ask to speak to the manger. It was a young man, named Adam. I explained our concern about the holdup and his first reaction was to tell me, it might be because of what we ordered. Not, I’m sorry for the delay, I’ll go check in the kitchen. But he put the blame on us. We had ordered an omelette and a sampler. He had a real attitude and was very aggressive in his speech. I could see I was getting nowhere with him so I just mentioned that I would just need to write a review to get the owners attention. Something needs to be done about the kitchen and the manager. These problems are new to this restaurant. The waitstaff is still great...especially, Sue. There is another restaurant about 4 miles up the road called Hurricane Cafè, that still provides excellent food, fast excellent service, and has managers who actually care about customer’s experiences. I will no longer be recommending my friends to go to...
Read moreAdam is Very, very, VERY unprofessional. Upon arriving to Southern Kitchen with my sister, Adam looked at us both, but decided to serve another family even though my sister and I was there first. Consequently, my sister was offended and mentioned it to me. Adam decided to ask her what she was talking about. My sister told him that she was talking to me, not him. His responded very nonchalantly, rolled his eyes and stated, “oh ok. i don’t know what that was all about but ok.” He proceeded to help the other guest that arrived and not us. At that point a heated argument began and instead of him suppressing the issue AS THE MANAGER, he decided to argue back with us and label my sister and I as being angry. Which was not true. My sister and I weren’t angry when we arrived at Southern Kitchen and even if we were angry, your job would be to ensure that our frustration had nothing to do with the service or food we would have received. We were actually excited about the breakfast we were going to receive along with the good customer service we THOUGHT Southern Kitchen had. So, we decided to leave and spend our money down the street at iHop where they served professionally, with dignity and respect. I WILL NEVER COME BACK AGAIN AND ANYONE THAT I KNOW, I WILL NOT RECOMMEND YOUR BUSINESS TO...
Read moreI'll start with the positives, it was packed, super warm, friendly and inviting place, kind attentive servers & staff, the food unfortunately is where my southern heart was let down, the turkey sausage, eggs scrambled with cheese, the berry waffle, the coffee, fries & even the syrup was all bland or had a watered down taste, I had to ask for Carmel sauce or takeout syrup to get a taste of something sweet, my eggs were over cooked & lukewarm along with everything else except the fries. I thought perhaps it'd be comparable to the one in Jacksonville but it is not & a completely different business from what I learned. For $28 I guess I expected at minimum a taste of southern influence or at least some butter, I had high hopes of a decent southern breakfast for my birthday but I guess it wasn't in the cards for me this weekend. Although I was disappointed by the food at least they treated me...
