I wanted am authentic Turkish coffee made my Turkish people and that is exactly what I got. After living in Oaklnd for many years, I am spoiled and travel looking for the same authenticity.
The atmosphere is so refreshing. Bright space, clean, welcoming. When I arrived their was a Turkish woman ordering with her mother. You know it's good when the the ethnic group is there too. I ordered. Traditional ak tmTurkish breakfast (hard poached eggs in a very light tomato-baaed broth, onion, bell pepper, red pepper, lightly seasoned. No acidity, not heavily spiced, very lightly salted. I followed it up with a traditional cheesecake that came with a sauce that was neither super sweet nor super nutty. And, a traditional Turkish coffee.
Now, the service: i was greeted with huge smiles, appreciation for coming in, lovely light conversation, and preciseness that o ly means professionalism in the cashier's movements. She was like art. Just like the dishes all of teg food was served on. I chose an outside take. Tge server brought my food on a silver tray. Each ite. Was on gilded China I would not be surprised was Turkish. The silverware wrapped precisely in a napkin with a little pink sticker placed perfectly. Yes. - I notice these things!
This all impacted HOW I ate. Slow, deliberate. Intentionsl. AKIDA COFFEEHOUSE...

The 2 ladies that served us were really inviting and they had a lot of food and drinks to recommend to us (at a decent price if I might add). I opted for their fruit tea although at the time they only had orange tea available but I love any fruit tea regardlessâ€. I also saw they sold Turkish Delight which I haven't had in years so I was excited to grab that as well. The tea was really good, it felt like a warm hug and the Turkish Delight was a nice wave of nostalgia for me. I'd also tried a few bites of my fiance's baklava and loved that as well. Midway through our drinks, my fiance was eyeing a honey cake they sold, so we decided to all share it and I dont even know where to begin to describe this cake. Normally I'm not fond of layered cakes and icing, the taste would be overwhelming for me but THIS cake? Absolutely perfect, no notes. It's not overwhelming of any flavor, the layers are balanced..it's a large slice of honey heaven. Will definitely be back with my fiance and will definitely bring more...
