The food here is amazing if I do say so myself. I am chinese and it is hard to find a place that sells good chinese food. I find this to be the best place to get chinese food in Woodbridge.
It is a little hard to find, but you come to realize that the area is beautiful, especially in the spring with the lake just a few steps away. When you find the Prince William County Police Field Office, you’ve arrived. The restaurant is right next to it, under the huge staircase.
This is not your typical chinese fast food restaurant because each order is cooked one by one, and made completely fresh!! Unlike some fast food places that has it all pre-made and just sitting there. That’s why I don’t mind the wait time! Since I know they are taking their time to ensure the meal is cooked and prepared to its best, I don’t mind waiting. Also, they do mostly deliveries because that’s what they are commonly known for, but I find pickup as the best option because I like to take a stroll around the area while I wait for my food to be ready (typically 20 minutes depending on how busy they are).
Also, they serve HUGE PORTIONS!! I always have leftovers for the next day. I have never been disappointed by this place. Their deliveries sometimes take a long time, but my food always arrives hot! Don’t forget that they have other customers too and that you aren’t the only one ordering for delivery, so sometimes it could take 30 minutes and sometimes it can be more than an hour. Just be patient!
I always order Pad Thai, Chicken & Broccoli, Triple Delight, Fried Rice, or General Tso’s Chicken (an all time favorite for everyone). Everything is always so delicious and flavorful. But you have to eat it right away! Don’t wait to eat it later, it’s best when it’s fresh. Also, since everything is cooked individually, you can make adjustments to it, if you want it spicy or not spicy, more veggies or less veggies, certain things taken out, or add somethings in (but it can cost extra to add something so just ask).
The cook and the waitress are really great people. They have always been so sweet and kind. PLUS, they work so hard because they only close on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Both have been working at the restaurant since 2010. You can always rely on the food to be consistent :) They are both chinese, so this is as close as you can get with american chinese food! Also, this is a family run restaurant, so whenever I come here, it always feels like home!
p.s. Online orders will typically take longer because it has to go through the online ordering company before reaching the restaurant, so I suggest just calling in!! Hope you find this...
Read moreI am always hesitant trying a new Chinese takeout joint because I've been disappointed so many times in this area. It's a waste of money, calories, and time when you're looking forward to good Chinese takeout and what you get looks like the frozen Chinese dinners from the grocery store.
I came to Panda with much optimism due to all the good reviews. And I'm happy to say they were mostly on point. Does Panda have the best Chinese food around? Probably not. But for take out Chinese that's close by, Panda is now officially top of my list.
I ordered general tsos chicken and hot & sour soup, which are my standards for trying a new place out. If they disappoint on the general chicken, it's very very likely everything else they make is sub par as well. Hot and sour soup is a very difficult soup to make well, so I tend to order it to see just how good a place is if they happen to pass the general chicken test. I rounded out my order with some crab rangoons and Hunan beef.
Panda did very well with the general chicken. Definitely was the best of all the places I've tried. There is a ton of sauce, which is good and bad but flavor was about 85% close to the real deal. Chicken chunks were large and not overly breaded. They distinctly lack broccoli florets and dried chili peppers though. Overall, I'd give it a B+. The hot and sour soup was definitely lacking. It didn't have the depth of flavor I was hoping for and the ingredients were far from traditional. Carrots in h&s soup is very unconventional and the consistency was too thick, a result of too much starch added. Crab rangoons were average but I don't hold that against them since it's not really Chinese food. The Hunan beef was wonderful. Like the chicken it was very saucey and lacking any garnish, but the flavor was delicious. The ginger and garlic melded perfectly to give the beef chunks depth. The white rice that was given had some burnt sections so panda probably needs a new cooker.
Panda is a very homey Chinese takeout joint that aims to please. It's dishes aren't fancy but the flavors of their entrees seem to be on point. I'll be going back for my next Chinese take out meal.
Of note, it is very difficult to find. It's tucked away on the first floor of the tacketts mill building under the police field station. Look for the glowing neon "Open" sign because it is otherwise very easy to miss. Took me a few times and a study of the directory map to...

The area is so beautiful that decided I wanted to take my girlfriend to dinner, but I needed to make sure this place was delicious. I walked in and said "I want to bring my girlfriend here, what should I try?" And they stuffed me full!
I had the spicy dumpling soup and the shrimp lo mein (because she would probably order seafood) and then had a hard time deciding between the scallops and eggplant( one of my favourite veggies). They ended up giving me the eggplant to go. The food was delicious, best I've had in this area.
About the place itself... It is very small, and not a super decorated, dine-in sort of place. It is very clear most of their business is take-out. I was the only "eat-in" diner while I was there, but they got a lot of calls, suggesting a robust business. I ended up eating with just me, the hostess/waitress, the driver, and an older woman (mom/owner?). It was amazing!
Everyone was nice and very helpful. Usually at a Chinese place I just get my regulars, but I asked them to help me try new things and they were awesome!
And, for the record, I asked if they spoke Mandarin or Cantonese, and it was the latter, so say "Mm gai!" when...
