The server is very nice, once you look past her sour facial expression. She doesn't seem very Happy. She runs the entire restaurant on her own after midnight, which is wrong in my own opinion. The line cook is just that and does not offer her any help whatsoever.
I ordered the pot roast, and I kid you not it was delivered with at least 4 tablespoons of oil on top... that is when I stopped using my spoon to skim off the oil and try to stomach my dinner. Unfortunately, that also is the time when I realized I couldn't eat it. I was too grossed out.
My husband just came in to sit down with me since his work had food there for the employees who were working today. So he wasn't hungry. He ended up ordering a vanilla milkshake. When it first came out, it had 4 large brownish-black spots on the inside of the glass. Come to find out it was the residue from the previous milkshake, yum.... end sarcasm. I would say the dishwasher failed miserably at his/her job. Glad my husband was paying attention and even happier that he didn't have an allergy to chocolate. Now although she should have paid attention to the dirty glass she was pouring into, we really blame the dishwasher on this one.
Like I said, she is very, very kind, but overworked and I am certain underpaid. As all waitresses are, but since she is doing the job as the: Hostess Waitress Line Prep Cashier Busboy Janitor Manager (And I am sure that I am missing a few others.) I sincerely hope that Demny's is paying her more than a servers salary.
We have come here multiple times and although today they fell on their derriere, they normally earn, at the very least, 3.5 stars, and honestly I am probably giving them 1 star too many, but since she was very nice and immediately fixed the issue with the milkshake I figured I would give her an...
Read moreIt was Christmas day, about 6pm. They weren't super busy, but there were about 8-10 people waiting for someone to seat them at the front... There were tables open, maybe it was a group? I texted my friend that I wanted a to-go order because I had to bring her the present I had gotten her so why not get dinner too? When I got there I had a frustrated neck beard looking guy waiting at the counter on his own to-go order... Apparently they lost his order, he had already paid for his food because like a doof he walked in and ordered at the counter, Who does that? He had a cellphone he impatiently called someone on to complain about the fact they lost his order so why didn't he call his to-go order in before he got there like a normal person? Who knows, maybe he liked the atmosphere of a Denny's on Christmas day. Whatever gets you off I think, he downed 3/4's of a chocolate shake while he waited on his new meal and got a comped dessert for the trouble. "Yeah, sorry they're taking so long, but I'm getting free pie. I got pumpkin" he told whoever was on the other line of his phone. It's Christmas, pumpkin season was two months ago... My friend walked my food out to me in 10 minutes of my arrival, tops. Got free food off her, and still left a tip.
Moral of my story, know someone on the inside and you'll be fine... And always tip well....
Read moreI had high hopes when I stopped by Denny’s in Lake St. Louis and ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying—primarily due to concerning food safety practices.
While waiting for my order, I had a clear view of the kitchen, and what I saw was extremely unsettling. The cook was not wearing gloves at any point during food preparation. Worse, he continuously touched multiple surfaces—raw meat, frozen potatoes, his shirt, his hat, and even the handle of the basket used for frying. All of this occurred without washing his hands in between. It was shocking to see such blatant disregard for basic hygiene standards, especially in a restaurant setting.
I couldn’t fully enjoy it knowing how it was prepared. Food safety is non-negotiable, and watching someone mishandle ingredients so carelessly left me questioning the cleanliness of the entire establishment. This isn't just about preference—it's about protecting customers from potential foodborne illnesses.
Denny’s has potential, but unless management addresses these serious concerns with proper training and enforcement of food handling protocols, I can’t in good conscience recommend dining here. Until improvements are made, I’ll be taking my...
