I’m giving this place a 2 star due to the manager, JB, being extremely rude to not only customers but his own staff. Our server did try to make up for it but the damage was done. When a manger pushes through people at the door trying to be seated on the patio instead of holding the door open and then walking though or just waiting, I find that very rude. I almost dropped my drink and chips we had ordered at the bar. The hostess walked through the door and I was right behind her. She made it through and kept walking. I was in the doorway, JB was chatting up other customers that just got there and was obviously holding them up on a higher level. He wanted to get them a table ASAP after others were waiting 50 minutes and decided to try and plow through the front door as I was walking through. When he hit me, he never said excuse me or I’m sorry, he just kept walking. Once I made it out to the patio where we were walking to our table, JB still in a rush to seat the same group who just arrived pushed his way in-between the hostess and myself to stop the hostess and tell her to get table 12 set up now. The hostess then said she was seating a table. His response to her was to get it done and he will seat the group. The hostess was clearly embarrassed and kept apologizing to me. I looked at her and said what I have seen while sitting at the bar and the walk to our table after being in the restaurant business for 5 years should not be happening. After all that our server was great but overheard me talking to my husband about what happened and how rude I thought this manager was. The server then had the manager JB come over without us asking. In a awkward moment JB came over in a rush asking how everything was. He never stopped walking and as we answered him, he was already past our table and telling the server “I don’t care”. The food was ok. Not for the price but good for something different for Mexican. It was very odd where the restrooms are at and having to walk through a server station to get to them. Servers should have that station to themselves and not have to worry about customers...
Read moreI wanted to be fair to the server and give them a "perfect" cause the young kid was nice. He was constantly checking on us and he had a warm personality so he'll go far. (Though I do honestly think it was cause we were probably his only table.)
The building, entering on a Saturday evening it was weird how quiet it was inside it almost felt like we were invasive. So we decided to eat outside which at least was a nice day out!
The food the main thing, was very bad on both mine and my partners plate. My wings that I got half of my order of at first (cause they put it in as a lunch at dinner time?) was so incredibly dry/overcooked to the point it sounded like I was cracking the chicken open. But also the black char pan sear on the main side, but somehow extremely bland. I ordered the two spicier options (appearntly but was never to be seen?) being told that would be nice and frankly the chipotle was barely on the wings. Then the Caribbean Jerk had an amazing smell but once I rolled it cross my tongue literally a quarter of a second of flavor before the dry chicken soaked it up. My partner received the chicken fajitas and she also complained unfortunately of it being bland. I tried her grilled chicken for the fajita and she was correct, didn't taste seasoned just like someone slapped chicken on a grill and hoped all the peppers onions ect would just hide it? Idk salt, pepper is pretty basic if that's not on chicken I don't know what to say.
Needless to say as nice as service was, won't be coming back unfortunately. It's a nice area outside if you're not downwind from smokers like we were.
An maybe it was a bad day, but I feel like Saturday night at 5/6pm you should be bringing your game to the table cooking wise even if it's not that busy. Unfortunate but needed review after I kinda felt like I wasted money on the most unseasoned Mexican food, which feels crazy to say. Hopefully the place improves but...
Read moreUPDATE EDIT: Showed up for lunch. Fairly empty and took at least 5 minutes to be seated. Once seated one a girl came with chips and salsa. (Chips were at least a day old stale and the salsa was flavorless.) 15 minutes pass no waitress and I started to look around. The girl that brought our chips and salsa was cleaning tables talking on her phone. 20 minute mark goes by and I see the bartender. I ask if we have a server cause we would like drinks and some apps. She looked surprised and said what would you like I’m so sorry. We ordered drinks and appetizers. Then 1/2 hour later the girl on her phone came by and asked if we needed anything 🤦🏼. Too late! Now let’s talk food. MAIN COURSE! The flavor is non existent. Price is above what the the taste is by $10.00 and the only saving grace was the bartender that poured Mic Ultra! Had some time for lunch. So Prados it is. Above average Mexican restaurant. Service is good, place is clean and the workers actually work. Prices are a little high (it’s lake St. Louis) so I expect the food to really WOW me but it was good. I’d definitely come back. I had the nachos with shrimp (skimped on the shrimp) but definitely a great nacho concept, finally a chip where you get toppings on every bit…… minus shrimp. For my main course I had the kitchen sink burrito. I expected steak, shrimp and chicken, but at last I had too add these. It’s a basic burrito (at a high price). The star of the show is the salsa! My goodness I could just eat that. This alone brought them to 4 stars! So if your looking for an above average Mexican restaurant with great vibes then this is it! Yes there are 5 stars out there, but I didn’t feel...
