El Pollo Cris Cris — Restaurant in Lake Township

After a failed ordering experience with one of our previous Mexican restaurants, I sought out the nearest restaurant from our office via Yelp, which just happened to be El Pollo Cris Cris. And with me being in the process of chasing that Yelp - Mexi-Can badge, I was excited to add this restaurant to my contribution list.

Once I entered, El Pollo Cris Cris gave me the impression of it being a breakfast diner due to its inner restaurant set up and interior. Other than its set up an interior, I took interest in its claw vending machines and aluminum rooster at the door prior to entering.

Parking at El Pollo Cris Cris is very limited which leads me to believe that it rarely gets crowded inside. I would imagine that its visitors are allowed to use the parking lot across the street, as well as its neighborhood and street parking if the restaurant ever did fill up. I also take into consideration that West Lawn, which is a dominantly Hispanic neighborhood has a ton of Mexican restaurants to choose from, so El Pollo Cris Cris maybe more of a hot takeout spot versus dining in.

The menu consisted of pretty much Mexican food, Hot wings and a variation of Fast food items (burgers, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, fish sandwich, etc.). At first, I was slightly disappointed that they did not have Gyros, which was pictured on their menu, leaving me to make another choice.

Our order consisted of 3 Taco Asada's, a Burrito Chorizo, and I chose the Nachos Con Carne, which did not disappoint, plus it was very filling! The portion was so big that I could not finish it all in one sitting, resulting in it becoming next days lunch, and possibly dinner. With our orders being takeout, they were mashed inside of to-go boxes which is my reason for not sharing a picture of our orders because orders just do not look the same in a to-go box versus on a plate.

El Pollo Cris Cris has already been identified as one of our new ordering spots for lunch. Plus, I am quite positive that I will return for an Individual visit as well because its Quesadilla Gigante looked really tasty, and I would love to try it. With all mentioned, I most definitely recommend, El Pollo Cris Cris....

Went in with the wife for a late lunch. We were lucky. We had the place to ourselves. And this is the only reason I didn't go full five stars. The woman at the front counter noticed us come in and sit down. Instead of alerting a server she just remained there on her phone. After about 5 minutes of sitting and waiting I walked up to the counter and asked if I was supposed to order up there or if anyone comes to the table. Then she said, "oh, I can send the girl over." I'm not sure why it took me walking up there to initiate service, but after that the rest was great. A friend of ours had brought the "whole chicken" setup to a bar that we had a pool league at. Ever since then we were craving it. It was a beautiful cooked and seasoned bird in a bed of juices with jalapeño, onion, fries, and then rice, beans, and tortillas on the side. I would definitely not consider recommending this place for anyone who wants to cater for their party or event. We had set a time of arrival for our order at 2:30pm and the food showed up until almost 4pm. We called several times to figure out what was wrong and they said that they were on their way, second time we called they said they had just gotten the order ready and the last time we called they said to be considerate because it was approximately 15 chickens that we had ordered. If you offer this service how much food a customer orders shouldn't be a problem

If you cannot manage to make catering orders or orders for large parties do not offer this service. Also, why ask for a time when the food should be delivered when you don't meet the time, our location was literally just a 5 minute drive from their location and it arrived super late. Our guests were waiting for their food and when it arrived it was cold.

I will not be returning for your services, such a bad experience, not even a discount for the late arrival or even an apology....
