El Campestre — Restaurant in Lake Township

First time trying this place. Have to say, it will also be my last. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with extremely loud music coming from the cook's station. It was loud. So loud that I had difficulty placing my order and the worker had difficulty taking it. The occasional grito from the cook was something. I just wish he dedicated some of that enthusiasm into preparing the food. Like, show the chicken some flavor. The chicken was bland. The rice was bland. The beans were bland. The salsa was bland. The chicken was overcooked and bland. It was juicy, but having no seasoning at all it didn't make a difference. The rice had no flavor. I think the paper bag it came in might have been tastier. The beans tasted as if they ran out midday and they added some water to make it through the day. The salsa was mostly water, couple things of tomato and one tiny bit of cilantro. It was like an interview to pick up a carry out order. A family member placed the order and I went to pick it up. After giving my name the cashier asked for the phone number which I provided. Normally this is enough to get your order at most places. However she wanted me to list the entire order. I knew that we ordered the full adobado chicken and half of a plain chicken. But she also needed the sides to verify that it was the right order. Not to check to see that my order was packed correctly- to make sure I got the right order. It's a small place but I ordered pick up. I saw a picture of a salad with green lettuce, avocados, grilled chicken, cucumbers, carrots, it looked delicious. The price was $15 but I figure it could be worth it.

I ended getting: yellow lettuce, I'm assuming it was the heart of the romaine, all of it. No green. It was splashed with some grated carrots and old chicken. The chicken tasted from yesterday's batch. It came with a whole piece of chicken sprinkled with bits and pieces of re heated chicken. Not what I was expecting at all. $15 for such a salad.
