Gorditas Aguascalientes — Restaurant in Lake Township

the food and environment was good. it’s the service part i’m upset about. my coworker and i sat down to eat lunch. our waitress came up to us and started taking our orders in spanish, i translated for my co worker because he didn’t speak spanish, i told her my order, and i mentioned how this will be separate , and this bill WILL NOT be together. she said ok, and we all went about our time. once we approach the counter to pay, another woman that was at the register (older woman, black sweater, black curly hair in a pony tail) and told me the total was $31 and some change. i was immediately confused, and i told her i asked for the checks to be separate. IMMEDIATELY after i said that, she started getting extremely defensive, and told us that “the girl who took your order didn’t put it separate, and she left for the day so i can’t change it”. ironically, as she said that, our waitress walked by to the kitchen. i told her that she’s right there? and that makes no sense. once again, she got defensive and refused to separate the checks. my coworker kind of sensed the tension and just put his card to pay for it all. at this point, i’m very agitated by the defensiveness by the woman and the straight up lie that she told me, her attitude was really rude. then, she turned around and asked me if i wanted to see the breakdown of my bill, but i was talking to my co worker at this point and didn’t respond to her. so she asked me again, this time i told her don’t worry about it, because at this point it really didn’t matter. why did she turn her back to me and mumble things under her breath? her whole demeanor was completely unnecessary, and for that exact reason we won’t be going back. and i’m pretty sure it was just with me, because everyone else around us was being treated just fine, i guess i caught her...

The place is very sleek and modernized from their other locations on Cicero and kedzie. Although I haven't visited Aguascalientes at their first locations in a couple of years, I do not remember their gorditas being the way they were made at this location. I had a gordita, (which is what the restaurant claims it's specialty is) of just beans, cheese, and carne asado. The masa itself lacked flavor, the Gordita lacked meat filling, the meat lacked seasoning, and the beans and cheese were just your basic beans and cheese. Nothing special like when I used to get these with my old man at their little village location. Another thing is that there is no kids menu. I remember them having miniature versions of their gorditas and tortas at their other locations. The woman who answered the phone to take my call said they only sell minis in bundles of four. My son is not going to finish 4. I ended up purchasing only 3 Gorditas. $14.69 total. A little on the expensive side for a plain flavorless gordita. Also, staff is unorganized. When I went to pick up my food. There were people just standing around not knowing where to go. There I finally just walked up to someone and told them I was there for a pick up. He seemed a little confused and clustered up. Finally got my food, went home and they give no napkins. Just a heads up. Also, while I was waiting for food, I saw guy hand a young man an alcoholic beverage without checking his I.D. Another big No no for me. I'll probably give this place a shot. But not...

NEVER AGAIN !! I was there a couple of hours ago and had three tacos de guisado and my roomate had a torta de milanesa de pollo, I'm not gonna lie the food tasted good, I was starving so late it really quick without paying attention to what I was eating. After my dinner i ordered dessert and my tiramisu was covered in MOLD, non of the cups had expiration dates, the waitress apologized and exganged it for a Chocoflan that had a BIG ROACH on it that I thought it was a piece of chocolate but once I put my phone flashlight on it I was able to distinguish it. The waitress informed management and I asked the lady who i think its the manager to look at it and she was rude and told my waitress that she did not wanted to see it and completely ignoring me and what I had to say. I've been very disgusted, nauseous and disappointed with their food and service. Talking to near by neighbors they're now telling me that they save and serve their food very OLD. They kept the rest of the chocoflan in the fridge even after i requested for them to toss them out since none of them had an expiration date on them for the customers safety. Here's the copy of my receipt, the picture of the ROACH in my chocoflan and prove that they kept the rest of the flan in the fridge. I didn't took a pic of the tiramisu covered in mold because I was never planing on typing a bad review till I saw my second desserts. BE CAREFUL IF YOU EAT HERE.
