Lawrence's Fish & Shrimp — Restaurant in Lake Township

I placed my order online and called for assistance. Amaurie answered the phone and was so kind and helpful. When I arrived to pick up my food, I was also greeted by Amaurie who was assisting a customer. Danielle, the manager, heard another customer come in (me) and assisted me. She was wonderful. I called back and Amaurie again answered the phone and his demeanor is so refreshing, both times he was cheerful and friendly. The food was delicious and the customer service was exceptional! It’s so hard to find good seafood and even harder to find great employees that want to help. I’ve had their shrimp from other locations before and typically my experience is the quality goes down when a restaurant expands because the employees make it differently. Not here, everything is always on point. The best fried shrimp by far. The onion rings are superior to any other place. The breading on fried food from other places gets soggy after being in a bag and a drive, not here though. The food could be amazing but if the customer service isn’t there, that’s a turn off. It was a dark, rainy early evening. Place is lit bright, empty of customers, a few personnel looking moderately busy with straightening up, wiping surfaces down. Older guy at counter was kinda Southern-style charming, but not exaggeratedly.

My first visit, he patiently (like an uncle might) walked me through the menu: and, the wing zings were freshly hot and steaming, crunchy, delicious, priced okay, but I wouldve loved a few more in the bag; the fries are not, as suggested, ample for two, but are fried just as tasty as the poultry; the jalapeno ranch and hot sauces made for decent dips, but I was looking for something slightly spicier. What a pleasant Saturday morning surprise!

I woke up in the early hours of the morning with a pretty large appetite, but I wasn't in the mood for the usual 24-hour fare (wings, burgers, gyros, etc.). It dawned on me that Lawrence's would be open. I had driven by it enough times on my daily commute, but I had not before patronized. So, away I went.

Despite a decent crowd of what I assume were club goers and other late-night/early morning folk, the staff at Lawrence's were attentive, in good spirits, and quick in turning over the orders. I didn't wait more than 12-13 minutes for completely fresh catfish strips and fried shrimp. The young man responsible for packaging the orders was also very generous with napkins, ketchup, cocktail sauce, and other condiments.
