I came in mentioned to Litzy the cashier that this was my first time and any recommendations...Felt like i was talking to the wall..went ahead and ordered and when i asked for what was in the machetes meaning ingredients she said uhhh not sure...clearly when i got my food only the meat of choice and cheese...never once mentioned the salad bar on side ..Had to see it for myself ..my husband ordered a burrito and he asked to add rice..she did not make it clear that oh by the way we cant add that ..mentioned it once it was given on the side on a plate..SMH...then she forgot items to add that i ordered..Meat didn't have enough seasoning. When working in a fast food industry please train your staff to know the basics. If she was a new cashier i would of understood if she had mentioned it to me but if she is not then retraining should...
Read moreOn the way to drop off a friend at O'Hare Airport we decided to stop at the closest place to eat. The place we stopped was Machetes. Machetes are basically quesadillas made with corn tortillas but they are fused together to make a very long one which is about the size of a machete. Hence the name. I had the birria machete junior which was the size of a regular quesadilla and boy it was so good. My friend had the regular carne asada machete which was enough food for two people and she also enjoyed it. The service was great and the workers there were very friendly. The restaurant was clean but drab in decor. The place is easy to miss since it's small and their sign is blocked by fencing from the property next to it. Read moreThe cashier was extremely helpful and kind. I asked what most people order, and we went with her suggestion. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. Both the birria and the steak were tender, but they lacked flavor—the birria sauce especially was extremely bland. The toppings were served buffet-style; while the station was clean and well-stocked with fresh red onion, cilantro, lettuce, crema, sauces, and etc it felt more like self-service than family dining. Our plates looked nicely presented, but the flavors didn’t live up to the presentation. On a positive note, they do offer freshly squeezed juices, which was an unexpected joy.
