I wish that I could give a good review of the food but I can not since I was never given to opportunity to taste the food.
My Husband and I are traveling to Chicago with my Service Dog from California to Chicago. On 26 August 27, 2021 on or around 10pm, we went to dinner with our friends that live here in Chicago to Atotonilco Restaurant.
We arrived to the establishment and sat down at a table, and I immediately place my service dog under the table (because that is what he is train to do when I and him are at a dining facility).
As, the server was approaching is to take our order, he was called back to the register by the cashier. Which at that point the cashier informed us we could not have the Dog? We informed him he was a service dog. I walked to the cashier to provide/ show him my service dog, ID, and he did not want to see it.
Cahier was adamant to refuse serves if we had to dog. My friend and I tried to explain what I service dog meant and what exactly my service dog was train to do. Cashier was not interested in hearing or understanding out information. Cashier said he called the owner and owner still said no service if we have the dog. My dog was wearing his harness, leash, and service ID at the time him and I was refused service at this establishment that serves the general public.
The restaurant had a total of 3 customers, one cashier, one server, and 3 cooks.
I fell that this establishment has violated the “White Cane Law and Service Animal Access Act”
My Dog at no time was disruptive, and stood by my side on a leashed at all times.
After we left my friend call the Police Department to male a complain, and ask then if they can go and explain what a service animal is.
I am a US Veteran and due to my PTSD and other disabilities is why I have a service dog with me. My dog was allowed on a airplane on my flight to Chicago, but not allowed at this establishment. It is unfortunately that this establishment lacks the knowledge or the will to understand what a service Dog is and what they provide to...
Read moreThis place has superb tacos. I have been coming here for decades, and would like to address some concerns that people have mentioned:
Cash only- this is true. If you are the type who has a serious problem with keeping a little cash in your pocket, you may find this frustrating. I would personally rather have my funds go directly to the business, rather than help a payment processing company profit through fees. You probably don't feel that cost, but businesses do. Not to mention with cash you don't have to worry about your information being sold or exploited.
Price- Folks, there is a focus on quality here. Take a wander over to the flat top and you'll see them cooking and chopping whole pieces of skirt steak. These guys don't use cheap prepackaged al pastor either. They layer the meat and the entire thing is marinated for a full 24 hours before it is cooked and sliced fresh for you. The salsa is nice and thick, not watered down.
I saw skirt steak go from $6 a pound to $11 a pound last year, and more recently back down to $9 a pound. That is still a 50% increase. This and other food cost surges (combined with being forced to reduce capacity and take new safety precautions) had to have affected them directly. They now have a bottle of sanitizer on every table.
Their tacos? They went from either 2.75 or 3 dollars each to 3.50- an increase of around 16-18%. You get a generous heap of meat as well as 2 tortillas and fresh veggies every time. The increase in price is so that they can stay in business and continue to serve you for years to come. They can either increase prices or decrease quality, and they chose to keep the quality. If you are just looking for a cheap taco to fill your stomach with no regard to how much you will savor every single bite- look elsewhere. But please put yourself in the business's shoes before judging them.
The tacos here are phenomenal, and I've never had an issue with the service. Do yourself a favor and come check them out, you will not be...
Read moreMy last review was for the 26th Street location back in April 2023. This review on 11/2023 is for the Kedzie location: 2 stars review because there was no flavor in the meat, the sauces or even the jamaica drink. I walked out (after paying) so upset and angry because I had thought this place would still be acceptable. For the price of each taco at $4.69 it was the worst flavorless taco that I could have stayed home and just had a sandwich without mayo or ham. I can't ever return and it breaks my heart because I love atotonilcos since way back in the 80's. 26th will suffice but I will never EVER recommend this location on Kedzie. Sorry Atotonilco's I wish they wouldn't group your locations on to one review as I still appreciate the 26th Street location. Oh and as an extra insult to injury, I had to pay extra to withdraw cash from an atm on site because the Kedzie location still DOES NOT ACCEPT DEBIT CARDS. Get with the times but then, I don't care for them so they need not look into my feedback.
Edit: They started accepting Credit/Debit Cards!!! Best day ever!!! Original review: I have to say that something was going on with my asada tacos but al pastor are still the favorite. My onlu issue is that they still don't accept debit card payments at...
