What a Lovely new spot to come and get some really and tasty Mexican food. You should definitely come to Xocome Antojeria, located in the south side suburb of Archer Heights. Stopped by to pick up some dinner, and let me tell you It was a great experience. The marvelous and colorful ambient look of the place gives you peace. We didn't have to wait to get seated, and we got greeted by the attentive and kind friendly staff, she brought us the menu and took our order right away. My wife decided to order the cochinita pibil Quesadilla and I ordered Two cochinita pibil tacos with the blue tortilla and everything on them. Once they arrived on our table, I was flabbergasting by the size of the quesadilla, it was at least 20 inches. Made with fresh handmade tortillas, the perfect portion of cochinita pibil with cilantro and pickled pink onion the tacos were out of this world, so much flavor and the smell of a fresh tortilla, and a plus to the chipotle salsa, I love when the food has a little kick to it. Wow, everything was cooked to perfection, I was happy and satisfied with my decision. They were all excellent! Really recommend this place, average Chicago prices for a dinner of two and the food was very, very good!! Long time needed and finally was able to come here and yes, they have Authentic Mexican food, I will add this place to my list come more often. i would definitely be coming...
Read moreThis place is a welcome break from the usual boring, repetitive, and uninteresting Mexican restaurant. Rather, they have an excellent layout of traditional Mexican snack food ... tacos, gorditas, picaditas, tlacoyos, sopes, quesadillas, quesobirria tacos, enchiladas, and pambazos. We tried the tlacoyos ... they were quite good, and vastly better than anything other tlacoyo attempt that we have seen in the USA. They were perhaps lacking a bit of salt, and the lettuce on top was not as good as the traditional nopales. But they were excellent.
A particular standout were the salsas that we were provided. One was chile pasilla in oil, and another seemed to be a mild habanero green sauce. Both were flat-out excellent, genuine standouts ...
The wait staff were quite pleasant, if the food maybe took a while to come out. OK, so it's not "fast food," but it sure is a creative, novel, and...
Read moreI was quite disappointed with this place. I came in and was really hoping to like it however when I sat down I saw a large man come from outside into the back kitchen (all dirty and not sanitized at all) he was in a JB hunt jumpsuit and I saw him grabbing food with his dirty hands bien asceroso. The waitress came over and asked what we wanted but she seemed a little cold but I ordered a sope and enchiladas and my partner ordered the 3 sopes plate and me let me tell you the enchiladas were gross and had a weird taste, the salsas en las botellas were nasty and the can of coke I ordered already had air in it before I even opened it so it was flat and asked the girl to get me another one. Overall the place looks okay from the outside but the food was definitely a big miss. no wonder it was empty. It was also too pricey for...
