El Mezcalito Cantina & Grill — Restaurant in Lake Township

So we arrived at 8:03pm and the young lady with the yellow note pad took our name/phone number down and said it is going to be a 10-15 minute wait time. We said cool and waited outside with the rest. Keep in mind we are visible, anyone can see we clearly that we are waiting for a table to open up. 8:53pm comes along and one of the bartender steps outside and asks if we are waiting for someone and if we would like to come inside? We asked him what do mean? Because we were SHOCKED at the fact we have been waiting for over 45+ mins!!!!! He proceeded to say: “was the door locked?” Come on man. You gotta be kidding me. At this point we were pissed and over it because it was my birthday!! We told him we were waiting for the young women to call us or initiate us to come inside. He went back inside to check and at this point it was 9:00pm, 57 minute wait time NOT 10-15 minutes. Plus employees were not on the same page. They eventually called us at 9:07pm. Very disappointed. Service was so poor that I’m actually writing to warn others. Waitress brought out charola of champuzon and didn’t bring serving spoon and left the table without asking if we needed anything else. When we asked for a spoon she said they didn’t have any large spoons only small ones so we used our small ones. Some time later brings out a serving spoon after we’ve already taken our time to serve ourselves with these small spoons. When we ordered she said tostadas and saltine crackers would be provided for the table, didn’t bring them until again we had to wait and request them. We requested water from two different servers including ours, never brought it. 30 minutes or so went by, the same servers kept passing and no water, we had to ask a person cleaning up a different table and he finally brought it. Do not fall for their social media hype! This place sucks! Food is average, service sucked and takes way too long for over $20 a plate! Wish I could add a photo but I never got my chilaquiles and I had to eat off my wife’s plate. First time, our food took 1/2 hour and it was not busy. Gave it another try because we eat out a lot and try to support local spots. Nope, never again! We never got the free appetizer others got. Staff ignored us for the first 10 mins. Half our food came out 1/2 hour later. The rest never came out after over an hour. Told them to just cancel it because we had to go. They tried charging us for food we never got and claimed they had already made it when we asked for the bill. Only the waiter apologized saying the kitchen was messing up and said he had to beg the owner to remove the food we never got off the bill.
