Authentic Hawaiian Plate Lunch in Chicago? Yes, It Exists! šŸ

It’s quite difficult to find a spot that serves Hawaiian food. Found this spot via social media and food looked so good. I’ve come here already two times by the time of this review and gotta say this place deserves the recognition it receives. Due to the times we’re living in, I’m not able to dine-in and enjoy the island-themed restaurant nor enjoy the excellent service I’ve received despite just ordering to-go. What I believe to be the owner has been really friendly and the way she has it set up for contactless payments and social distancing is beyond expectation. The food, most importantly, is phenomenal. Price-wise it is very fair for what you’re getting and you get very generous portion sizes. I’ve had the Katsu curry and the mixed BBQ plate between my two visits and enjoyed it with one of the Hawaiian sodas. Very hot and delicious. Nothing is over seasoned or salty and the cold macaroni salad is a great contrast to the hot meat and white rice. The mixed BBQ plate consisted of short ribs, chicken teriyaki (if not wrong) and bbq beef. Definitely the short ribs and chicken teriyaki are a must-have. Overall, Aloha Eats has a variety of Hawaiian staples that reminds you of home even if you’re not from there! LOL Definitely look into coming here any time soon! Just be wary of the parking situation which tends to be hard to find.

Fantastic experience and delicious food. The menu is extensive and if you haven’t been to Hawaii (like me) make sure to ask questions. We got the hurricane fries, pork katsu curry, spam loco moco and spam katsu musubi. Hurricane fries were delicious and a decently sized portion. The sauce X furikake combo straight slapped. Pork katsu was delicious and honestly PLENTIFUL. I mean we’re talking like 2/3 meals no joke. I ordered a side of curry and gravy. Curry was on the spicier end and tbh was my favorite. The gravy was also very good, tangy but on the sweeter side. Wish they could do half half on the katsu but it’s served on the side. Loco Moco was good and looked delicious. Didn’t try it personally so can’t say a lot more ha. The drinks were fantastic. I mean truly delicious in flavor but not overwhelmingly sweet like most sodas. Also as my friend said, the spam is ā€œliterally a block of riceā€ so don’t order it as a side thinking it’ll be tiny šŸ˜‚. Will definitely be back and this time, hopefully try some of the less fried stuff on the menu ha

Absolutely fabulous. I just got food here for the first time with my boyfriend over the weekend. We did carryout, so that will inevitably change some of the textures compared to dine-in. That said, the curry pork katsu was still crispy by the time we got home, which I loved. Aside from the pork katsu (which was very, very good) we tried the saimin and the BBQ meal/platter (I can't recall the exact word they use for that menu item). They nicely separated the saimin broth from the fillings for transport. Unfortunately, the egg noodles all fused together from the steam and heat, but like I said, carryout changes things and that's no one's fault. The saimin itself was delicious the broth tasted absolutely delicious on the veggies and noodles. I will say, drinking the broth straight up at the end is a bit salty for my liking. But it tastes fabulous as a coating on the soup fillings. The BBQ platter was hands down the star of an already great meal. If you are going here for the first time, GET THIS. The meal will very comfortably serve two young men. The chicken is tender and incredibly flavorful. And the short rib was just beyond delicious. Yes, you have to deal with the bones, but boy is it worth it. Sweet, salty, meaty, and every so slightly bitter/smokey, the short rib is honestly my favorite dish that we had. I will be getting more meals here...

Love this authentic Hawaiian food!! Spam musubi & bbq rib plate is so delicious!! I always do take out & the food is consistent, delicious, & made to order!! My only negative thing is my last take out order experience was awful. I went in to place an order...& i’ve never felt so unwanted. The lady at the front seemed so frustrated because I was placing in order. She huffed & puffed with a rude ā€œanything elseā€ after every dish I said. She gave me the wrong time to come back to get my food 3 freaking times. I was so frustrated. She was no help at all!!! I’d rather hear that my food will take an hour rather than coming back to check every time she told me. Again...i’m in the service industry so I make sure it’s clear when reviewing so I don’t seem like i’m nit picking... I know this a little whole in the wall spot so I get it...but at least smile & make people feel welcomed when they come into a business. If you don’t like interacting with people....you chose the wrong job! My first experience was good. I hope this younger women isn’t working the next time I come, i’ll have to be that person that asks for management & Id really hate to even do that. I only ask for good food & good service, hope it’s not too...
