We always wanted to try this place every time we walked by in this area because it has an inviting patio and it seems nice. We'll the patio was nice but Not the people that works here. They were Rude!!!! I will give my business somewhere else.
Came here at around 5:45 PM yesterday. The almond croissants we ordered was a little hard (the cashier didn't heat it up.) Then we ordered our drinks. While waiting for our drinks we got a table outside looking forward to enjoy our snack in that patio. There are 12 to 15 people that was seating outside. Then we got our drinks around 5:55PM. While sipping on our drink, and had a couple of bites in that delicious but hard croissant, the Female Staff Shouted, (to us and to the people in the patio that was also still eating and finishing their drinks) - "OkAY, WE ARE CLOSED NOW SO EVERYONE HAS TO LEAVE THE PATIO AREA!!!" While she just poked her head out to shout at us, didnt get out of the door then she closed the glass door while looking at our direction! It was on 5:57PM! We didn't get to enjoy our drinks and that croissant and It was very rude how they did it! First of all, we weren't informed that they will close soon. They should have told us that while we are ordering!! Secondly, they shouted at us like we were bunch of squatters! Professionals, Classy, and Normal people that works in a Cafe or restaurants usually says it in a polite or nicer way and NOT SHOUTING at your customers that just ordered food and drinks. They closed 3 mins early before the time they supposed to close (6:00PM). Not even a grace period of 10 mins after closing for the customers that just ordered to enjoy their food and drinks. If you are rude like that, atleast inform the customers that you will about to close earlier than your...
Read moreI really enjoyed my time here. Even on a busy Saturday, they have lots of space, and the staff was efficient and friendly. This is helped by their “no WiFi Saturdays” from 11am-3pm, as it’s their busiest time of the week, so it helps people flow in and out and makes seats readily available.
I appreciate that there are a lot of options for drink sizes and the prices genuinely seem to reflect the difference in sizes, so you feel like buying the size you want instead of being pressured to get a size smaller because it’s so much cheaper or larger because it’s “just a few cents more.”
I guess my one complaint is the quality of the drink. I liked that their standard is 2% milk rather than whole because that’s a bit healthier and tends to make the flavor of the drink stronger. But for the price, the mocha I got tasted not much like espresso at all. It was very chocolatey, and it tasted like syrupy chocolate and not real chocolate. Don’t get me wrong- I know coffee shops use chocolate syrup. But this tasted like an artificial chocolate rather than a higher quality brand that has a better flavor.
I’m still giving it 4 stars because the vibe and staff are so good. My boyfriend got a plain iced coffee and really liked the coffee flavor, which is high praise from him. Overall I’d come back but probably try a chai or smoothie rather than a...
Read moreTruly one of the best coffee-shops in Chicago, and a great place to visit during COVID-19! While in grad school, I often came here to do work at the outdoor patio and drink a lot of their good coffee (weather permitting, of course). However, after moving away, I didn't have the chance to come back to visit until last week, which was delightful. The staff has made such an excellent go of fixing up their space to be accommodating for coffee-lovers and visitors alike, fixing their patio to stagger tables farther apart, ask for guests to wear masks at all times aside from eating/drinking, and closing off an area to have easy access for pickup. I would encourage them to make an effort to limit the number of people allowed on their patio at once (it was a little too busy while I visited), but otherwise encourage people to come visit. Grab a coffee or a scone, and buy some of their delicious avocado toast for a light lunch or snack. Bring your laptop/book if you'd like to work here, but be cautious about COVID-19...
