I am in disbelief that there is so much ignorance in this world. Times like these help me understand the importance of standing together with your own. Today I decided to walk to lunch and chose to go to a little restaurant within walking distance from work. Orange Garden Chop Suey 1942 W Irving Park Rd. Chicago IL 60613 to be exact. I walk in and a woman comes from the back and lifts her hand towards the left side of the restaurant and invites me to take a seat. I looked at the booths but they seemed small so I set my purse on a small table that had a few chairs around it. She starts speaking in her language to another lady which I could feel that it was about me but I continued to wait for a menu. The lady then comes over and says can you sit at this booth please? I said I'm sorry, I prefer a table, is that ok? She says "No its not ok, you sit at booth." I said, "is there any reason?" This lady has the nerve to say "You sit at booth, we cant have you facing that direction." I looked up and saw a table full of Caucasians and realized she didn't want me faced towards them while they were eating. I kindly got up and said, "No thank you" instead of sitting there being treated as if looking at a person of color is nauseating. I am so tired of hearing other races say that racism is a thing of the past and they ask Black people to stop bringing it up. It frustrates me that I even have to be specific with my children and say things like "You are a beautiful BLACK girl or BLACK girls rock or your BLACK skin is so beautiful" because if I DON'T then the world will teach them to hide and be ashamed of their God given features. I am so angry right now, I am the most loving person in the world. I love people regardless of their race, I enjoy conversations with strangers about their life, I also teach my children to love all people as well. I work for my money, I am a law abiding citizen yet still I am treated like this. I will never step foot in this establishment ever again and wanted to share my experience...
Read moreOrdered delivery tonight. Driver called to say was here, I said to buzz 4th floor. He asked if I was coming down, I said no this is delivery, please come up I’ll meet you on 3. He said he was buzzing and buzzer wasn’t working. I could hear the buzzer working because I have a listen button too! Surprise liar!!! While on phone with driver I was also talking to friend and said go down and can you hear the buzzer? Yes! Friend went down and driver was just getting out of his car. Total liar. Essentially threw the receipt at us to sign. Called Orange Garden to complain, guy on other end was very receptive. Posting this as not sure if it was an OG employee or outsourced. Should be fired if employee, if outsourced that delivery company should not be used any longer. I believe it was an OG employee because the outsourced delivery service drivers rely on the tips more, generally speaking. I live in the neighborhood and I just can’t recommend you for delivery any...
Read moreGreat food and service. I met a refugee that was asking for work or food. So I took her to the Orange Garden Restaurant and bought us a meal. While we waited for our food, I ran to the store to take out a few bucks and came back. Our food was ready but I was giving the refugee cash so we took a minute. During this time the lady came over and I apologized for taking so long to leave but just then she said no worries take your time. She then said your mom is nice and I explained she wasn't my mother but was instead a refugee looking for work. This lady quickly grabbed utensils and paper plates to add to the bag and then she continues with her tips. She even gave her money from her own person. I thanked her and told her I already gave her some money and food for the day. Her kind lecture response was "that's okay, she needs it, I know". Once again we thanked her and left with our food. Sorry for the long post but today I had good food and...
