Where do I begin with this horrific experience?? Avoid this place at all costs. My friend thought that due to the high reviews, it would be worth checking out. Boy were we wrong. I got two slices and a coke. Fine. They were ok- good, but not great. My friend orders a slice, a salad and a beer. While being rung up, she notices the salad comes up as $12.99. On the hard copy menus on the tables, it says a Caesar Salad is $10, with chicken $12. She tells the cashier that she doesn’t want the salad if it isn’t the price listed on the menu. He then accuses her of coming in before and not paying and proceeds to take away her drink and slice. Neither of us have been here before and she says that he is mistaken. She just doesn’t want the salad at the higher price. He clearly doesn’t know how to delete an item off the ticket and says she can’t have any food until the manager comes in a few minutes to fix it. Unbelievable. Fix the ticket and let her pay, except he doesn’t know how to do that. He then says the manager is coming in 10 minutes. While my friend is waiting, I share one of my slices with her and then offer to get her one. I go up to order another slice, he complies and tries to ring me up. He goes tobthe only register tablet where my friend’s order remains, unpaid. I can see the ticket on the screen. He adds my slice to her ticket, tries to do something and then adds another slice to the ticket. He then tells me the manager should be here soon and can fix it and I can pay then. It is about 7pm at that time. I got my slices at 6:41, so this has been going on about 20 minutes already. We finish our food, assuming this manager is showing up soon so everything can be settled. We finish around 7:30. Give them until about 8pm and go up to ask where this manager is as we have been there for nearly 90 minutes. The guy says no manager is coming. Well, thanks for letting us know that fact and he asks if I have cash to cover the slice I picked up for my friend. Luckily I do, but why didn’t you communicate this about 30 minutes ago. No apology, nothing. This was a failure on so many levels. First, the cashier is clearly not capable of operating a simple and modern POS system. I am in the service industry and have managed many a cash register, old and modern. Second, don’t accuse my friend of not paying previously when neither of us have never been there or of not paying now because you don’t know how to run the register and delete an unwanted item. Third, charge what your physical menu says. That’s false advertising. I included photos of what the menu on the table says versus what is online for reference. Fourth, we could have been made aware that no one was coming so we didn’t hang out for an extra half an hour. This is no way to run a neighborhood business. I work very close to this establishment and will be telling this story to everyone. A very emphatic thumbs down for this place.

'Twas the night after a show at Lincoln Hall and after deciding we didn't want to opt for the bartender recommended spot (we were feeling some pizza) my friend and I made our way to Proper Pizza. TONY, my mfing hero, graciously welcomed us in half an hour before closing time to an immaculate, absolutely mother-approved clean and cozy restaurant (germaphobes, Tony got you). We eyed the slices and selected cheese, pepperoni, and sausage and I personally, as a sesame bagel girly, was excited to dig in (and it did NOT disappoint). If you love east coast dollar slice, this is a pretty good substitute, *especially* if you're a cheese fan. Ratio wise, you're looking at 70/30 cheese to crust (dollar slice being 90/10). Generous slice size for the cost. Tony was not only super nice about letting us dine in so close to closing time, he was very gracious when I accidentally dropped a cup of their signature matcha sauce (think a lovely dilly ranch freshly whipped up) on the floor (I got that adhd tilt) and gave us some background on the other Proper Pizza locations / got to know Tony himself, who is, as you can tell, a gem. We felt so at home I left my bag. When I called him in the morning to see if he had the bag, he instantly recognized me and said he'd have it for me to pick up and that he'd save me a slice. I mentioned the nutella pizza I saw in photos, and he had an ENTIRE ONE ready for me when I got there. Needless to say, I'll be going back to try the margherita and truffle and to say hi to my guy Tony. We love Tony! Tony forever.

🚨NEW SPOT ALERT 🚨 from Europe to New Zealand, Greece to now CHICAGO . Couldn't have been happier to be a part of this grand opening of PROPER PIZZA CHICAGO, first one in the US ☝️Fun fact; the guy who handed the 🌰 Nutella crispy pizza over was THE FOUNDER. Just casually making pizza 😂 Love love LOVED the flavors at this spot, the MACHO was definitely our favorite topped with chicken sausage, their signature proper cheese, herbs and their MACHO sauce made with yogurt, parsley, dill. Really flavorful and I couldn't help but eat almost half this pizza myself 😂 I never love crusts but WOW this crust is phenomenal. Topped with sesame seeds. I recommend getting their sauce on the side to dip 🤤 We also had their Proper Pizza 🍕 made with beef salami and beef prosciutto + mushrooms , Proper cheese. So good and fresh, not too heavy Cool part is... They have large party sizes for you and your family/friends - order on Clover 🍀 and pick up in store. Don't forget their FLAKY Nutella crispy pizza. It's a different dough, topped with peanuts. So good 🥳 @midwestmunching for more on Instagram
