One of the reasons I love this theater is because of the history. This is the last place that the gangster John Dillinger saw a movie. John was a huge fan of the movies, in fact he loved watching the news reels at the beginning because the stories were about him. There was no internet back then and no 24 hour news channel, so this is how John Dillinger was able to see himself up on the big screen.
On that fateful night John Dillinger was sold out to the FBI, who were waiting for him at two theaters on Lincoln Ave. They spotted him leaving the Biograph and he ran down an alley to the right of the theater where he was shot dead. Yeah he went out like a bad guy in every motion picture. This theater is a part of Chicago History and many people do not even know it.

We were fortunate to witness a staged reading of How to Defend Yourself by Lily Padilla. It was very interesting to see all of the behind the scenes preparations that go into a production of a play.
The actors were excellent and the venue is intimate and welcoming.
The theatre is dedicated to the development and production of new plays and playwrights. It is also exciting to see so many female playwrights getting the opportunity and guidance to finish their productions.
A great place to see up and coming playwrights,...
Read moreBeautiful little theater with friendly staff and good lobby refreshments. They have a full bar and hearty snacks such as nuts and trail mix. They are a staple in the community and do lots of events for local students and those who have an interest in the theater. Tickets are usually reasonably priced between $30 and $60 and they often have specials online or through other websites such as Groupon or Goldstar if you really want to save. It's a small to medium theater so every seat is good. All the plays that I have seen there have been thought provoking...
