The only reason this is not five stars is we had a crazy rude teenager Customer Service experience!
The custard is awesome I got the banana fudge sundae added strawberries it was great (pictured) and my two friends and their kid head Sundaes and a shake
But something random happened we’re inside ordering literally just going through the four things all four of us wanted and this seemingly teenage girl behind the counter was giving us an angry look and attitude the whole time she seemed pissed off - which really made no sense we just walked up it was our turn to order and started ordering we weren’t taking long at all like it wasn’t like we didn’t know we wanted we had already waited in line and figured out what we wanted. we had a little boy with us that changed his mind and he wanted chocolate sprinkles instead of normal sprinkles as his mom is changing that one piece this girl throws a fit and walks away and another girl comes over clearly like having to cover for this other crazy angry girl and finishes taking order. I literally almost said something but my buddy told me just to ignore it and let it go because she’s a teenager and we want to get our ice cream
Then the angry girl went and made my Sundae and when it was ready held it out literally behind my back as I’m standing there at the counter and screams the top of her lungs - twice as I’m standing in front of her knowing that’s my Sundae that she made just a few seconds after I ordered it. When I turn my head she’s looking at me and screams it again After she handed to me she stormed out of the store and apparently went on a break and went across the street
I know these are teenagers but they have this kind of attitude storm off in the middle of an order and then storm off for your break is ridiculous - I even asked the nicest Hispanic girl who took over for her what is going on with this other girl and she said she doesn’t know she apologized on her behalf and I said it’s not your fault- but...
Read more5/30/24 Disability friendly store? YES! And their malts are the best in town. The owner uses real powdered malt, not liquid. So you get that REAL, old time, fashioned malt taste. Liquid malt just doesn't cut it. Their malts have that classic, OVALTINE flavor.
(Just don't get peanut butter malts. The peanut butter cancels the malt flavor, no matter HOW MUCH powder you add.). It's NOT the fault of Scooter's, or the way they make their product. Let me make this clear. Malt mixed with peanut butter cancel each other out. You can't taste the malt powder. But malt mixed with any other flavor is a win-win, green light, especially chocolate.
Furthermore, what I mean by this store being "Disability friendly", is they have a wide, open back section to the store,, where you can sit if you have a walker, wheelchair, stroller, or shopping cart. It's easily accessible, and they have a seating area up front too, though not as large a seating area. They have washrooms here too, which is an added bonus.
They have a lot of ice cream and sundae options, and their pumpkin malts (only available in the fall), are to die for. The creamy, slightly grainy pumpkin blends perfectly with the malt powder. The employees are kind and courteous as well. They don't sell a lot of food here, maybe just some hotdogs and chips, but that's to be expected, It IS an ice cream store, not a restaurant per se. I have nothing but good things to say about this store. I have been coming here for years, and the owner is a sweetheart too.
For those in a wheelchair, need be aware, there is a small curb in front of the entrance to the store. I don't know if this would pose a possible issue or barrier getting across into the store, but I just thought I'd post this, so you know ahead of time. It's a small enough curb where a wheelchair should be able to cross it without issue. It's a great location to come to...
Read moreI visited recently for the first time (around 4PM on 7/3/25, if anyone of consequence is reading this) and the visit left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. It wasn’t busy when I was there but the employees seemed like they could not give me the time of day when I walked in the door. Absolutely no professionalism, no greeting, no eye contact, everything about the way they carried themselves was off putting. The young girl who took my order was leaning over the counter so much that she may as well have been laying on it. Just felt very rude. Once I got it, the food was fine enough but I was left with even more of a bad taste because while I sat in the dining room eating, the girl who took my order proceeded to talk shit about another employee who was not present, and all the other employees (manager included) just smirked and let it happen. Why have a sign that asks customers to be kind as many employees are new if you clearly aren’t going to hold your staff to the same standards? TLDR don’t let your employees talk shit in front of customers because you never know who might be listening. I absolutely will NOT be coming back again, I don’t care how good the custard supposedly is. There are plenty of friendlier businesses in the neighborhood I’d rather give...
