I ordered a couple of pizzas and desserts late on a Friday night and, unfortunately, we messed up the order and sent it to the wrong location. My husband went to pick it up and realized right away that it wasn’t there – our mistake 100%.

But when I called the store to explain, the person I spoke to was completely unhelpful. I told him I’d call my husband, figure out what to do, and call back (they still had 40 minutes before closing). Instead, they called me back asking if we were coming to get it because they were about to close. I hadn’t figured out a plan yet, but was going to ask if they could just hold the food in the fridge until the next day, since we had a microwave in our hotel room and could pick it up for lunch.

Instead of helping me out, the guy told me to call Slice (their third-party ordering system) to cancel and get a refund. I thought that was the best option, so I followed his advice.

When I reached out to Slice, they told me they couldn’t refund me because the store hadn’t authorized it. So, I called the store directly, and after the person I spoke to on the phone asked a manager, I was told the employee I spoke to on Friday evening was wrong. Apparently, they never issue refunds once an order has been made. So, thanks to the miscommunication, I’m out almost $60, which included desserts that I assume they just threw back in the fridge to resell and a TIP!

Overall, I’m just really disappointed with how this was handled. The lack of communication and customer service was frustrating, and now I’m out money AND food that could absolutely been eaten. Definitely won’t be ordering...

Deep dish pizza by the slice!! Yes that's right - no more waiting an hour for a table and then an additional 45 minutes for your pizza to come to you.

My boyfriend and I went here and got 2 slices of the Art's Meaty Delight deep dish ($3.95 each) and a piece of french bread ($1.75).

Since it was a Tuesday, their special was a meatball sub for only $3.99!! I was so excited because I love a good meatball sub. I asked the cashier what I should get, a meatball sub or a slice of deep dish. He replied in his naturally monotone voice "well, we're known for our pizza so..." haha I love it. So honest.

All in all, the pizza wasn't piping hot - or even hot. It was just warm.. I would have loved to take it home and pop that sucker in my toaster oven (that I just bought from FB marketplace for only $10! I'm sorry, I'm so excited, what a steal that was) to make it more hot and have a crispier crust. For only $3.95, the quality of meat and sauce was definitely there though. Only complaint was that it wasn't hot but just barely warm.

The garlic bread consisted of butter and garlic powder. Not too much of a fan since I prefer real garlic but the boyfriend had no complaints.

Would definitely come back here for a slice to-go! So...

First things first, pizza by the slice, a concept that has existed since soon after the pizza itself was invented but for some reason not implemented into the deep dish game for years. Art of Pizza does this and it is (as of 11/3/2016) $4.35 for a slice of deep dish, regardless of toppings! They usually have about 5-6 different types of deep dish (which they call stuffed and there is a minor difference but we won't get into that now) as well as all their thin slice stuff. The slice itself is a work of art, probably why they went with the name. The ingredients are quality and it's tasty from top to bottom. A good sign for deep dish is if you don't mind eating the crust, it's a lot of carbs but its tasty and not dry. I plan on returning here for many years to come, it's even the official pizza of my fantasy football league's draft party.

Pro Tip: Red Hot Ranch is only 5 buildings north of here and sometimes I do what I call a "Chicago Special" where I get a hot dog from there and a slice of deep dish from here. RHR has a good dog, it isn't a true Chicago style but...

I am not going to lie this is probably the only time i have posted a positive review for anything but Carlos left me no choice but to break that streak. In a day where it is hard to not just find someone who wants to work but to be so passionate about the product. I ordered my food and mentioned I had never been here before and Carlos read off the food they had with so much description you would have thought his grandmother owns the place. In fact if she doesn't I will be shocked. If I owned this restaurant I would hope I was aware enough of how lucky we are to have Carlos as the first person they see when my customers walk in the front door. Give that kid a bonus, a raise or a car or something. He is definitely worth the investment. Carlos if you are reading this stay the happy, passionate and welcoming person you are. With just who you are and your great attitude you will go far. BTW the food was great to. What a good combination with great service and great food. Sorry the pizza was so good I ate most of it before I could take a picture

I was so excited to eat this pizza - my first time trying Art of Pizza - but unfortunately the top crust layer was completely and totally raw. It was inedible, and I don’t say that lightly. In the photos you can see how it’s definitely raw dough, not cheese. I tried to cook it myself in the oven but the outer crust burnt before the top layer of dough was cooked through. I called in and the shop offered $10 off a new pizza or a free redo. Unfortunately I bought this for a family event in the far suburbs and couldn’t make use of that. I really try not to be a big complainer but this was too much. Everything else on the pizza was super nice and high quality. If you get a pie that’s cooked all the way through I bet it’s pretty amazing. But for me, it was a $45 mistake.

Happen to went there despite the blizzard outside! That was one of the best deep dish pizza in Chicago we tried! Saucy, tasty and price is great too. I also got myself a chicken soup and I liked it too, was a good choice at that weather. You can get it by slice as well which is an option you barely can find somewhere. Place looks pretty regular, nothing fancy (in case you look for more restaurant-lookey). Service was fast and good, nothing to complain! We enjoyed our pizza and ravioli in there so much! Will be happy to return to Chicago and visit this place again! (Forgot to take picture of ravioli, but they were really good too)
