Ukai Sushi & Ramen — Restaurant in Lake View Township

Not bad, but definitely not so good.

The sashimi is good quality and delicious, however that’s the end of the good part.

We also ordered curry udon, basically all appetizers, and a couple sushi rolls. The appetizers are okay except the Dashi tofu is meh. Sushi roll is good. Udon is quite insulting, it tastes blend, doesn’t have the key ingredients to make it an authentic curry udon, huge disappointment.

Given the quality of the food, I think the the price is definitely on the pricier end than it should have been.

One other thing that bothers me a lot is the decoration inside are non-Japanese related theme when it is a Japanese restaurant.

Overall, not a bad place to visit. Granted, this is probably the best somewhat affordable Japanese restaurant within blocks, but surely won’t be the first couple places to...

New to the neighbourhood so was excited to try this place. Unfortunately we won’t be back. There are so many sushi restaurants to choose from nearby and this one was just disappointing. All the pieces were huge so that you either had to stuff your mouth with too big of a bite or make a mess by trying to take two bites. This also meant you didn’t get much flavor because despite buying a $16 roll with multiple ingredients you only tasted one. I also found many of the pieces of fish to be very tough and chewy. A lot ended up in the garbage as we couldn’t eat it. I would much rather have bite size sushi pieces and more of them vs a few giant pieces. To me this is just a lazy lazy amateur way of making sushi. Honestly I’m still a bit dumbfounded by how this place gets...

This is a great restaurant for groups and is BYOB! It's definitely not my favorite sushi restaurant in the city, but because of its proximity and location, I find myself here a lot. They actually take large group reservations which is also really nice and accommodating of the restaurant. I've usually ordered very typical items here such as the crab rangoons, maki rolls, miso soup, etc. and none are particularly stellar, but there is nothing to complain about as well. Overall, this restaurant is pretty average and gets the job done. The food isn't particularly amazing, service is normal, and ambiance is nice, but I would never recommend someone to go here. There are a ton of other, better sushi restaurants in the city so look elsewhere for good quality...
