Christopher's Grill & Bar — Restaurant in Lake Wylie

My brother and I had dropped my two 99 Suburbans’ off at the Express Tire in Lake Wylie and decided to grab some lunch while the shop was working on the tires. We walked down to Christopher’s Bar & Grill since it was one of my favorite places to drink and eat at back when I lived on Settlement Street in Lake Wylie back in 2007-2009. I have never experienced such disrespect and horrible service from them back in 2007-2009.

My brother and I had walked to Christopher’s as I mentioned and arrived 5 minutes before they had opened for the day. The older lady had opened the door right at 1100 a, and had let my brother and I in as well as another guy wanting to come in. My brother and I were first to order our food and drinks. As we waited about 10-15 other people have entered the restaurant and ordered. At around 1130 we seen that all the other guests that entered after us had gotten their food and drinks. My brother then went up to the waitress stationed and asked about our food. The food had been waiting on the counter and the waitress then told my brother that she would bring out our food right away. 1140 came rolling around and the waitress had failed to bring our food out to our table. At 1145 we grew tired of waiting for our food so we had gone up to the waitress station and requested to pay for the two drinks that we received and the southwestern chicken rolls appetizer that we ordered. The waitress had a nasty attitude then huff and puffed while working on the POS System. The older lady that unlocked and opened the door to let us in was standing there working on something. I then voiced my concerns and she just raised her hand and said it is fine you don’t have to pay for anything just leave. My brother and I wanted to pay for the drinks and appetizer since we did receive and consume them but she insisted that we leave.

My brother and I are both American Citizens born here in the U.S. We are not Mexican or Hispanic and we do not speak Spanish the only language that we speak is ENGLISH without the Southern Accent. I feel that we were discriminated against because the staff assumed by our bronze olive complexion, black hair and brown eyes that we were Mexican or Hispanic. Super disappointing experience. We decided to try this tonight, because we were sent a $10 off gift card when we moved to the area. We got there around 5 pm (the beginning of dinner rush) and they had a crew member cleaning tables and chairs in our section with a very strong ammonia smell. Not exactly what you'd like to smell while you're eating. By the time, we got our meal she was right next to our table. When we first sat down, I noticed something black on the inside of my water glass and was able to scrape it off with my straw. I showed the waitress and she brought me another water. Guess what? Water #2 had black items on the inside of the cup as well.... By the 3rd glass of water, I accepted that I wasn't going to get any clean glassware, and I wouldn't be drinking anything during dinner. Outside of that, my meal was wrong. I ordered a club wrap, that was supposed to have bacon. Sadly, it didn't and by the time the waitress brought out the 4 strips of bacon that were supposed to go in my wrap, I was pretty much done with my meal. Overall, very mediocre food. Poor atmosphere. Bad experience....

I work around the area and I’ve always noticed it when I got off I decided to stop and eat there. I asked if I could sit outside, seemed to be an issue that they had to unlock it bc they didn’t think anyone was gonna sit out there bc it was “cold”. I felt like I was being rushed. I didn’t mind waiting on the food but as soon as I got it 5-10 minutes later she brought the check. She didn’t bring ranch for my wings. So I asked, when I was finally refilled and feelings rushed I asked for a to go tea & she just brings me a cup, I ask her for a lid for my ranch & one to go. She expected me to pour the rest I had left in the to go cup. I asked could she fill it up a bit more. She seemed as if I was asking for to much. Not to mention the wings looked crazy , the salad was ok. I didn’t feel very welcomed at all. I also explained to them this was my first time. That’s why I don’t like trying new places. I get food may be different but the customer service was terrible. I guess this is a type of place where they are tight on sauces & drink. If I’m dining in, there should be no issue with to go...
