Still 5 stars, but for additional reasons! The food is always amazing! And the soup...... just try it! You won't be disappointed!
The bartenders, in general, are great. But Ariel is amazing! She's always has a positive attitude about her that is easily contagious!
What I've come to love most is the level of comfort I feel while I'm there. I always feel safe! And that is hard to come by anymore! I know if I ever have an issue, I can go to security, the bartenders, or even the owner, and it will be resolved immediately. They do not stand for anyone that makes anyone else feel uncomfortable! They are open to all ways of life and don't judge you! They just want to make sure you are and feel safe at all times! I have seen security, staff, and regulars offer (and provide) rides to avoid drinking and driving! If they feel you may be a little on the intoxicated side, they don't make you feel bad/stupid/embarrassed. They simply bring you a water and will even add fruit to make it appear like a drink while you actually enjoy a cold glass of water. A thoughtful touch, in my opinion.
It is a bar with great food, more so than a restaurant that is also a bar. However, I do take my daughter's during the daytime and they love it! Something about getting a Shirley Temple and being able to play pool makes them feel like grown ups for a few hours. The staff is great to them and will open the tables up so they can play for free. And they don't act any type of way about them playing. Some places would never allow kids to play at the pool tables. Everyone there seems to just want to make sure every guest, of every age, has a great time!
The bartenders are amazing and always make sure I actually like my drink. Most places would say "sorry, that's what you ordered." And walk away. Not at CaddyShack. They want to make sure I enjoy my drink and will offer to fix it or make me something else if I don't love it! So thoughtful that they care about me being happy with what I am paying for!
Only downside.....I NEVER know what to order because the food is all amazing! And they are even typically ok with me ordering something that is not on the menu as long as they have it in stock! I know that I will get the beverage and food that I WANT for a great price!
Side note - I have used CaddyShack for large to-go orders for events I have hosted. Everyone loves the wings and Flatbreads I get from there! Just give them a call a day or 2 in advance and let them know what you are hosting and for how many and they will even offer suggestions! Always hot and ready at pickup and a great deal compared to prices at some of our other local restaurants.
Great place to hang out and...
Read moreThis is a revision of a review I posted 4 years ago. I guess it’s the same ownership that had it open at the old River Rat?? Google would not let me create a new review but since this is a new location I will just rewrite it. I had gone to this new location after it opened a couple of years ago and ended up walking out after waiting for 30 minutes for someone to take our order. The staff was non existent and those there seemed like they didn’t want us to be there. My son (22) frequents this place and for a while I thought it was more for younger people. I saw a post on FB for someone in lake Wylie looking for a good Chicken sandwich and several suggested Caddyshack. I told my son about it and he said. “Yeah, they have killer food”. . So my girlfriend and I decided to try it again. We walked in and were greeted by the bartender who was very friendly and told us to sit wherever. The crowd was light but appeared to be close to our age. A young lady came and took our drink order quickly and was very polite. She came back and took our order of chicken fajitas and the Caddyshack chicken sandwich with truffle Parmesan fries. The food came out quick and hot and I must say was better than a couple of other well known popular places in Lake Wylie. While we were eating Brandon the GM stopped to check on us and stayed to chat for a few. He was very friendly and outgoing and genuinely interested in why we came in and what we thought of the place as well as letting us know what plans were in the works for the place.
We ended up staying and shooting a game of pool and having a few more drinks. The crowd built and I would say averaged from mid 20’s to early 50’s (our age). It was a mix of locals, regulars and a few from around the area. Everyone was friendly and we continued to have great service. The prices are inline with what you would expect. The food was excellent and they even had my beer on tap! Pernicious…. Bottom line, i definetly recommend trying it out and I am glad we gave it a chance and will definitely be back!!!

Read moreThis is the first time I've gone here under new management and a new name The Cove (The River Rat prior). We sat on the smallish dining side. The place looks a bit refurbished since I'd last been here with an eclectic menu that I heard is changing...or at least they are getting new menus that aren't so confusing.
We had appetizers to start with, a meat and cheese platter with crackers and a dipping sauce with alot of rosemary in it. We thought it was an olive oil base, turned out to be an oddly thick sweet syrup base. It just didn't go with this platter. We also had the fried mushrooms which are in a coating. They were delicious. We had heard about them but they weren't on the menu. The waitress said they're on the "late night menu". My husband had the fresh catch of the day, soup and salad. I had the drunken pasta. Grilled chicken over pasta with a vodka sauce. It came to me extremely dried out and I needed to ask for more sauce. Once I received more sauce I enjoyed it immensely...it's a huge portion, enough for 2 people. This place though is confusing to me. It seems the bar side does very well, they have another section with pool tables and dart boards and also do corn hole. It appears there is also live music on weekends. It's a mix of a sports bar and then attempting to be elegant dining in the small dining area. I think they need to choose which one works best and focus on that to make this place a success given the turnover of new owners this location has had. Our waitress was very sweet..had us and another table and seemed to get caught up in socializing with the other table. So we sat many times waiting for things we needed....especially a correction on our bill. I would go back, because the food was delicious, even if it...
