Sandy's Cozy Corner — Restaurant in Lakehurst

Sandys used to be really good and my family loved going there, but recently I’ve been ordering pick up instead of dining in. I’ve ordered the same thing on 4 separate occasions and every time, it comes different. It is a little pricey, which I don’t mind, if I get what I’m expecting. I’ve sat down in the restaurant and eaten things that are great, then order the same thing for pick up, and their isn’t made as well as if I am sitting in. It seems like they just don’t care about the customers who take food to go because they don’t have to deal with them after they walk out of the door. I got a wrap today and the hash browns that were supposed to be in there weren’t cooked well. When I dined in and ordered this, they were cooked/crispy. When I ordered out, they were not cooked like last time. It was as if I put a baked potato in my wrap. Last time, I ordered a bagel with a hash brown, egg and cheese. I assumed they’d know I meant together as a sandwich but they didn’t. They gave me a hash brown with a slice of melted cheese on top, an egg on the side, and a bagel on the side. Normally I wouldn’t care and I would just put it together, but they wrap their hot sandwiches in foil so they stay hot, but this they just put in a container and it all got cold by the time it got to me. Basically, I spend the extra money for this diner instead of calling the other diner in town, but it hasn’t worth...

I only ever write reviews if I REAAAAAALLY like the place or if I have a terrible experience. And in this case, I loved it! I recently moved to the area a little less than a year ago and passed this place a million times but never actually ordered food from here. Today I finally decided to try it out because now I'm pregnant and I was starving and craving a good omelette. I am soooo glad that I came here!! I ordered the kielbasa omelette with peppers and onions, which came with home fries and toast. I also ordered a fruit cup and orange juice. I ordered everything to go and everything was delicious!!!! The quality of the food, the taste, the temperature, and the amount of food that they gave me was definitely worth the money that I spent! I also cook for a living, so I am one of the biggest critics when it comes to food quality. They were definitely on point! Also, the entire atmosphere of the place was just incredible!!! Definitely gives off a warm and welcoming vibe! We are a party of 3 who went every Friday for months if not over a year. Most weeks we would sit in the round corner booth with no issues. The waitress Marie knew our orders and was always accommodating. Then one week there was a “new” girl working or one we hadn’t seen before, we go to sit in the both and was told we were not allowed to sit there if there wasn’t 4 of us. We ask to sit there because it is more comfortable than the small booths. This happened for a few weeks then on Friday 1/24/2025 we went to sit in the booth and was nastily told we were not allowed to sit there we told her we may have a 4th coming and was told if we aren’t sure then we had to sit in a booth and she would move us if the 4th showed up, how inconvenient. Then we called to speak with Sandy about the situation because we were told that she was the one that informed them to not let us sit there, and they were never willing to put her on the phone.
