The food is extremely pricey even their lunch menu . Again very pricey , a taco and I e enchilada 14.99, I'm a local will not come back to this place , a dozen of regular tamales is 46.00 again being a local , I would stay away of the hype .....your going to spend alot of money , and receive small portions and the taste is nothing to boost or Bragg about ...very ordinary, for the prices they want to charge lunch ....not worth it ....dinner is much more expensive....again pricey ,pricey, and not satisfying your taste buds or your tummy.....the atmosphere is great , the food is not .....the house frozen margaritas are 10.00 a pop in a small round glass ....I will say they did press me with their house frozen margarita. It was on point ...the chips ok the salsa ok . So if you just want to hang out by yourself or with friends ...just go for house frozen margaritas chips and salsa .......the staff is nice .....the fake flowers not attractive collecting dust .....the music good the atmosphere great ..the decor except the plastic flowers ...good hang out place .... .the manager looks like a stickler stuck in his own ways....not going to leave management any suggestions, except prices are too high fir low quality food they are offering locals and outside guests ..

My suggestion: I would instead go to Agave Azul in Winter garden or Kirkman Orlando or Windermere FL better variety of Mexican plates , very well presentation, more authentic home made taste! It will rock your pallette ! drinks are awesome as well ! In this Agave Azul, you'll get abundant authentic Mexican food and drinks and music and beautiful elegant atmosphere. Prices are just right .... I have gone with both friends and my family to both the Kirkman address and the Windermere . I have yet to go ck out the Winter garden one Not pricey.big portions . definitely authentic Mexican food homemade. Checks all boxes ! Real flowers in your drinks !...

The food was good not the best but not the worst either. The queso was bland and yellow instead of white and therefore reminded me of cheese food instead of handmade. The salsa however was handmade as it has a roasted taste with a very nice spice to it. The portion sizes were great for the meals and it has a great categorization on their menu for those who are vegetarian or are gluten sensitive. I had the pick 3 enchiladas and chose the cheese, guacamole, and the chicken and I was able to ask for lettuce wrapping them which was a nice touch compared with other Mexican restaurants. The cheese one however was bland, the guacamole had somewhat more flavor but the texture was strange as it needed more than just guacamole inside of it as it just oozed out, the chicken one was a great balance between texture and taste so the chicken is seasoned very well. The refried beans had a great taste that came with the meals but I never liked Spanish rice and the rice here was similar to others so I still didn't like it. My son loved his bean and cheese burrito and my mom loved the crispy tacos and said the refried beans were excellent. The service however was not the best the waitress was not coming to the table enough to make sure we had enough to drink and when she did come back she was rushing us to pay the bill. They don't put the hours of closing time on the doors either but people were coming in the door even when we were leaving but they were cleaning everything in the restaurant even though there were tons of people in the restaurant still. I couldn't even go to the bathroom as the moment they saw me going towards the women's room they moved the trashcan in front of the door and pulled the cleaning cart into it I asked if I could still use the restroom beforehand and the lady said no I am going...

I'm not sure what is going on at this Abuelos. This used to be our go-to Mexican restaurant. The food is really good, but now I don't think they know their menu. It looks like new staff here. If so, they need to retrain quickly, or they are going to lose customers like us fast. I ordered the Tamale meal with the toppings cause I told them im not gluten sensitive, so put all the goodies on top, my two sides charro beans and papas con chille ( mashed potatoes with cheese basically). We also ordered chicken fajita with charro beans and Mexican rice. They bring our food chicken fajitas, all the dishes that come with that, and my Tamal....? The server comes ask if everything is ok...ummm no I ordered tamales, and I get 3 taquitos put on a 3 corn husks with the papas con chille and refried beans. Yes, those are our new tamales, she told me and said she can get more if I don't think it's enough you know let me get the manager for you. The manager even comes over and confirms that we have some new tamales, and we will be more than happy to give you more no charge. Ok, ummm, and is this your charro beans? Yes, those are our charro beans. These are refried beans that are not smashed. No, those are charro beans. I'm looking at my meal dumbfounded that they will pass taquitos as tamales and now refried beans as charro beans. No, I think we're going to go. Probably wait a year or two before going back. Maybe by then, they will have their food labeled correctly to where the customer will get exactly what they ordered. Both server and manager were polite and respectful and nice about this, but to tell me a taquitos or it could have been a flautas, but they never had flautas at Abuelos before, so going with taquitos as tamales really, ok good luck with that. One actually two...

Ill be honest.. My expectations for this place were pretty high. I mean, I have so many friends that swear it's the best Mexican food they ever had, And it was definitely good. The ambiance was lovely. However, I do not think it's any better than Tres Amigos here in Brandon and to have to drive all the way to Lakeland for it, I just don't think it was worth it to me. I did not care for their salsa at all, although I did enjoy the pineapple-tomatillo one quite a bit because it was so unique. I still prefer Tres Amigo's fresh salsa here in Brandon. It satisfies all my salsa tasties 100%! For dinner I had enchiladas because they're one of my favorite things, and in all honesty they didn't taste that different from most others. It's kind of hard to screw up enchiladas if you have good sauces for them. The one thing I had that was really unique and different and that was absolutely delicious was the mashed potatoes. You can choose them as your side for no up charge and they're absolutely some the best mashed potatoes I've ever had, loaded with garlic and peppers and bits of onion and really really creamy and cheesy... they were so good! I might make a trip to Lakeland for those! Its a solid 4 stars.

Ok, follow me on this one... Being an African American that lives in McAllen, Tx. and enjoys authentic Mexican food with a bit of a (self proclaimed) worldly pallet I found this place to hit a few marks I wasn't expecting. When it comes to flavors I found a few similarities but execution was where they were lacking. When the food came out quickly and the plate being nice and hot I was ready for a good meal but that first bite didn't reflect the decore. Slightly above warm beans and unbrowned tortillas on the enchiladas didn't kill the experience but did show a lack of food prep attention to detail. But once I dug in, the experience got much better... The stuffed pepper was great and the slightly mashed/chunky potatoes was a pleasant surprise that fit well with the multiple choice packed meal I ordered (the Monterey). Once I got into the center pieces is again where the train came off the tracks a bit. I did enjoy two of the 4 choices offered but due to low food temp I didn't spend much time with those either. So, the flavors were decent, the atmosphere was nice and filled with diversity, and the cavezo was cold and dressed but the food..... They may have just had an off night.

Whenever we are in Lakeland we make a point to stop at Abuelos at Lakeside Village. Has been our favorite Mexican dining establishment for years. Ample parking, and they always seem to have plenty of staff on hand, no matter the time of day. On this visit, I ordered "Mi Abuelo's Manjar," which is (copied from their website) ... Grandfather’s three stacked enchiladas layered with beef, cheese and chili con carne, topped with two eggs and served with refried beans and your choice of Papas con Chile™ or Mexican rice. (Picture included with this review.) My wife ordered the Fajita Tacos. Both meals were prepared to perfection, just as we've come to expect from this fine Mexican dining establishment. I really want to point out to you what a fine job Sherold did in taking care of us. Our party included a lady in her 70's with a severe hearing disability. Sherold was very patient with us all, and I just felt management needed to know what a fine job she did via this review. And yes, I sought out a Manager on duty and informed them of her fine work. So people, is you get exemplary service, THANK your server, and let someone know. See ya next time Abuelos!
