MAKING ROAD FOOD DELICIOUS: ok, it is more than raid food but when you are in a remote area and you are in the mood for a reasonably priced hearty meal; this is/was an awesome choice; especially since the crew there were such great company and enjoyable to converse with as I enjoyed my meal. I jokingly said to the cook since he really did a nice job on the breakfast chops I had, that he must have been an undercover chef hiding out in the local Waffle House. We had some interesting discussions about the local economies and the impact of the lack of business growth (something I am passionate about) via larger industry presence in smaller communities that wind up with mainly agricultural, service, and some medical opportunities therefore resulting in the flight of youths to larger communities in search of more - often in search of immediate gratification oriented opportunities that often are not a part of smaller areas. It was interesting to listen to their perspectives on quite a few things about our current state of existence and the ultimate need for everyone to be engaged in any future changes needed by exercising their voices and taking proactive action rather than passively becoming a part of the status quo. I welcome any opportunity to hear different perspectives on not only things that I may have a direct interest in but those that leave will leave you with a sense of the well-roundedness that we are as a society and the larger community. They are in a prime location near a major intersection as you exit the interstates and make for a nice break point when spending an energetic day out exploring. You can "fuel up" and fuel up at the convenience store near by then head back on the road with a since of having met a nice set of people and have eaten a good meal prepared special...
Read moreFamily of 5 dinner out. We noticed through the window as we approached the door a group 6 to 7 coustomers at the register paying to leave. None of which were wearing masks including one of the employees so we were confused upon entry as we were instructed to mask up. We masked up without issue and sat at a booth. As soon as we sat down the same employee said that only four people are allowed at a booth and my 9 year old daughter "has to sit elsewhere". My wife frustrated at the unacceptable request offered to sit with her at the next table. He would not let them sit there either per social distancing requirements so they went to the next table which was dirty with dishes. My wife said this table needs to be cleaned and the employee told her "you need to be patient like the Bible says we will get to it when we can." In frustration my wife tells the employee "just shut up" as she sits down. There were only three other customers in the restaurant at the time yet the employee explodes into a verbal rage in front of all and tells us that "I am refusing to serve ya'll and you must leave" Then he turns to another employee and tells him to "call the police". I guess we were too early to dinner. Katy and Dustin, who typically take care of us at this location are wonderful people. They were a few moments away from coming in for their shift. We salvaged the evening by visiting the Waffle House on Hwy 64 and had a...
Read moreIt was a strange experience for sure! There were only two people working rhe store. The at least late 40's man cook. He can cook good. But no gravy and the bisquits were frozen we found out. It was about 6 at night. The younger waitress was so exhausted you could see it on her face. She had to buss tables, take orders, get drinks and all the extra things the waitress does us deliver the food. I could feel the tension i. The room. My food was cold as they had the air conditioner on full blast. Apparently they ran out of clean utensils and she recommended giving the to go utensils and the cook fussed at her really loud saying that would cost the company money. Washing any dishes with all the people in there was too much for her and being tired and yelled at she just got fed up and left! That left the Superstar cook alone until someone got there. He said some really hateful things about her to all the customers. It was all we could do just ro be quite. First time we had been ro this waffle house. Food was good but cold, and the man that worked there over 20 something years could have been more kind. I wouldnt have minded plastic utensils. At least I know they are clean. The food was good the...
