Our first visit here. Hadn't noticed it when driving thru town previously. Found it via word of mouth (even a specific search for "Bakery" and "donuts" on Google Maps failed to find it), which isnt necessarily a completely negative thing, as it shows growth potential (to me anyways). The place is clean, no gross smells; staff is informative, friendly, and timely; staff interaction with each other is relaxed and focused on the ever almighty Customer; the dining area had 8 or so customers all seated and very much enjoying their time; baked goods looked nice, and those we chose were very fresh; coffee a bit weak but very good otherwise; length of time waiting was minimal; and prices were a bit higher than comparable businesses visited recently. Disappointed because we asked for custard filled chocolate bars, but only a bite of the bars had any filling...not sure how much we were charged for that. Their prices are higher than other places, but at the same time their quality far surpasses other places. If they could fill the bars right, my rating would be 5+, and they would stamp out all competitors that I have visited in both Lake AND Mendocino Counties, hands down. Their goods have a density to them even without the filling; the same difference between breads at Safeway: $1 "air bread" vs $4 "something-to-chew bread". The custard was smooth, flavorful, and very much missed.
Definate Quality.
And we will...
Read moreFirst time in the new location. The place is light and bright and has a nice atmosphere. Problem is the way the counters are set up. There are plastic, clear screens covering most of the tops of the counter (which I understand) but then there's a bunch of stuff as well making it hard to even see, talk and hear the employees. Adding to the difficulty communicating is loud music.
There are no prices on any of the doughnuts, none of the doughnuts are labeled either. You have to try and ask how much and what they are. They have numerous fancy tv screens flashing information but I didn't see anything about doughnut prices. No sign stating anything. If you can afford tvs you can afford a chalk board or dry erase board listing this info. The drive though has more information listed but I expect prices listed in the actual establishment.
Prices for the doughnuts are also outrageous. $3.50 for a tiny filled maple bar I could eat in 2 bites. Might be the reason the prices aren't listed. The doughnuts seem smaller than when they were at their previous location and definitely more expensive. I will not be going back. Typical lake county way, just because there aren't other options in town, doesn't mean you have to overcharge people and not...
Read moreI highly recommend getting the milky way drink blended, it’s so addicting. Like it’s sweet but not over powering like Starbucks does. Tbh I prefer getting coffee here 100% over Starbucks. And the bagels are honestly better than the ones Dunkin’s give. They are fluffy and not overly crunchy. Also I also highly recommend the chocolate croissant warmed up. It’s huge and worth the price. The inside is so fluffy and stuffed with a lot of chocolate. I usually pair it with a milky way drink. Oh and the white mocha blended is freaking tasty as well. My fiancé just tried the blended red bull drink and now he’s...
