My family had high expectations, looking forward to authentic German food and atmosphere. Unfortunately we were disappointed on a few counts. Service: the server was friendly, but hasn't been trained for the job. The table wasn't set, she gave us the stack of menus for our party of five, interrupted my wife while she was ordering, and left us waiting between her visits. She had to attend to the few tables that were occupied in different parts of the restaurant, and it would have been a good idea to have tables in only one section seated. After we were seated, she seemed to be busy with closing tasks, leaving us to wait while she finished these.
Quality: most of the food was just okay, a little bland. The Rotkraut (red cabbage) was ice cold, but Rotkraut should be served hot. The rest of the food was only lukewarm. The Radler had too much Sprite or 7 Up or whatever was mixed, and way too little beer. The beer should make up at least 50%, better 75%, and the rest should be Sprite.
Atmosphere: the restaurant is dingy and dark, with just a few German ornaments. I would expect some German music to be playing (there are all kinds of German music in different genres). It reminded me in some ways of very old German Gasthaueser, for example, with the glass covering on the table over the table cloth, but the restaurant needs a face lift. I would overlook the atmosphere, if the service and food were up-to-par.
Our family won't be going back; unfortunately it is so hard to find a good German restaurant. I would have tried one in Black Diamond that I have been to, but they close at 8 pm and it was too late to get there and be able to have a relaxed meal...
Read moreWent to Bruno's for the first time one night, because I was born and raised in Germany and very excited about visiting a German Restaurant with my Daughter. First of all, when we arrived, a nice elderly man, who was just exiting the Restaurant with his wife, held the door for us and we walked in. The Restaurant had some customers already seated, but it wasn't very crowded. We waited for a couple of minutes, when a male waiter walked past us, suddenly stopped looking directly at my Daughter and me and asked loud enough for everyone to hear and in a very annoyed tone of voice:" How did you get here?" People actually looked up at us and I felt really embarrassed, so I answered to the waiter:" We got here by car!" Without coming any closer, or lowering his voice, the waiter shouted back: "That's not what I meant. How did you get in here, we're already closed." I explained to the waiter, that someone held the door for us, as they were exiting the Restaurant and that I had no idea that the Restaurant had already closed. The waiter then proceeded to walk us out of the establishment while everyone was watching and then made sure to point out the small sign hanging in a side window, displaying the business hours and telling us:" Our opening times are posted right here." I felt completely humiliated and angry, at the way we were treated. Needless to say, I am not returning. And for the record, they may serve German food, but that is not the kind of treatment or service you'd...
Read moreI write this review with great disappointment. Last week in St Patrick's day I took my family to Brunos for a treat. We lived in Germany and Brunos has been one of the few authentic places innthis state tonget.good German cuisine. Have been going there for years, but not frequently because it's not inexpensive. This was my second time at their latest location and with it being st Patrick's day, it was quite dead. Which I was kind of happy about because every time I've been in the past its been quite busy. We were seated quickly and our waitress was the older lady, whom I assume was in charge. She took our orders and had kind of a grumpy attitude but was tolerable. There were three tables with people in the restaurant so they were cutting staff. Lack of business did not do good things for our service. Our waitress forgot one of our entrees that we retrieved ourselves from the cook. After our initial drink order, we were never offered more. She seemed bothered by our toddler who was a bit fussy but I took him outside when he got loud out of respect for the other patrons, even though restaurant was empty. The food was bland and my rouladin was beyond basic. I do better in my own kitchen. The bill was large, the service was poor, and the food was not the quality I've come accustomed to. Though every time ive been in the past, Bruno himself was doing the cooking which was always amazing. Unfortunately, now I will be hard pressed to return for my...
