This has been my favorite retistaurant for Filipino food for YEARS until today!! I called on Thursday, August 3rd at 3:43pm and spoke with the owner told him I needed to place an order for this Saturday for Pancit for 20 people. Mind you I have ordered party food before from here when my kids were in school to feed their class and did it by placing the order 2 days in advance, paying and then picked it up the day I requested. Anyways the Owner tells me no need to call early, just to give him a call Saturday morning one hour before I needed it and they will have it ready when I get there. I asked him are you sure (twice)?? As this was not how I’ve done it previously. He said yes, just call me Saturday ab hour before and I’ll care of you.
Fast forward to today, I called at 11:04am to place the order, same Man answered the phone. I explained to him we spoke on the phone on the 3rd and I was wanting to place an order for Pancit for 20 people to pick up at Noon. He proceeds to tell me that they have some and I can come in and grab it. I reminded him that it was the order for 30 people and he starts telling me he needs 2 days notice to do an order of that size. I told him we spoke 2 days ago when I tried to place it over the phone and come in that day to prepay. He says “No. I can’t. There’s nothing I can do. I gotta go” and hung up in my face.
This is NOT how you treat your customers/consumers who enjoyed patronizing your business for years!!! I will NEVER give this establishment another dime of my hard...
Read moreThis restaurant dosent deserve any star at all but it's the only way to complete this review. We drove 40 miles to this restaurant only to have a humiliating experience from the male owner/cashier/server. I was dissapointed and hurt to the point where the experience had me in tears.... from a fellow kababayan/Filipino. The owner is very arrogant and disrespectful towards his costumers. He's using an excuse that he's from the military, and that's why he's loud, and demanding of compliance to his rules. But that doesnt give him the right to humiliate customers and talk down to them for looking at the food in the display for being slightly out of his formed line. Please think twice in coming to this place. Consider going to Paraiso Restaurant down the street, were you get a warm welcome by the owner and staff like what you expect from a true Filipino. Sadly, I observed several regulars attend the restaurant, and they seem to be ashamed of the owner's behavior. However, they come back because the food portions are large I suppose. I have more respect for myself and will...
Read moreI found this restaurant because I was driving through tacoma and thought I would stock up on vayan/ filipino food, as I don't really have that where I live. My family owned a carenderia growing up in Cebu, and the way the food was set up reminds me of that.
If anyone is questioning authenticity, this food is Filipino through and through. It reminds me of all my favorite home cooked meals from Cebu. Also, the food is SO GOOD!! When I'm in bigger cities and find Filipino restaurants, it's usually hard to find things like Pork Sinigang, Pinakbet or Ginataang Monggos on the menu - and if they do, the taste is usually altered to cater to a more general taste profile. Maresol Restaurant had all my favorites, and everything honestly tasted like home.
**also, whoever made the pork sinigang on tuesday march 24 -- the meat was so tender! and so fricking GOOD!! Probably one of the best pork sinigangs I've ever had. If I ever moved to Tacoma, I'd...
