Mr. K's Donuts — Restaurant in Lakewood

The BEST donuts in LA County! The small strip mall where it is located definitely looks past it's prime & needs work, but don't let that sway your decision in going there. I went there late, at about 11:00 PM on a Friday, but everything still seemed & tasted fresh.

Ordered a dozen + 3 more. I like them all, but the raspberry filled is my favorite; they're great! I think the filling in them is made from real fruit because they taste like it is & the color & consistency is similar to Knott's raspberry preserves. Mr. K's raspberry filled donuts don't have that weird gel thickener consistency that tastes strange & makes them look like opaque, florescent red, melting, strawberry Jell-O shots that are found at MOST other donut shops either.

My next favorite is the blueberry fritter. They have a nice, authentic blueberry flavor with real blueberries mixed in the dough & a thin glaze on top. I was able to eat the whole fritter & still want to have another donut. They don't make me feel like I just ate a lot of greasy, partially cooked dough that I need to purge from my stomach. Normally, the only fritters found anywhere are almost always apple & are usually just okay. Mr. K's fritters are light (for a fritter) & delicious!

As expected, all the donuts are sweet, but they aren't sickening sweet. Those that have sugar on top have a very fine-grain sugar dusting them, just enough for the perfect sweetness. Also, none of the donuts are greasy. Instead, they taste like they are cooked in fresh, clean oil.

The staff is friendly & polite & I like the colorful way they make their menu board which makes it easier to read. Go there to satisfy your donut craving or your sweet tooth. You WON'T be...

It was a great pleasure to come by again to this donut place…I hadn’t visit since like 8 years ago, but happy and delighted to see Lee Chea there helping all her customers with such a joyful attitude as always! Saw that she had Cronuts available and well normally I’m a chocolate on chocolate donut with peanuts but there wasn’t any more available but as always Lee offered to make one for me if I wanted to but since chocolate icing wasn’t set it wouldn’t be the right consistency and guess what I said “No thank you” let’s go for a Cronut and Yes Yes Yea that choice was absolutely the best it was still crispy to bite and yummy and delicious sweet to the right point yet buttery flavor that just melted away in my mouth with each bite with my delicious coffee. There’s lot more on her menu and staff is wonderful too super clean and just right size donut shop…with coffee and sandwiches and drinks on menu there’s lots for other food cravings! I would buy their stuffed croissants and donuts for my staff at work and OMG a big hit each time. If you happen to be in the area of Paramount Blvd and Del Amo stop by and get your yummy donuts and more…she also sells alkaline water and ice for you to refill your water jugs. The first time I was here was great because customer service was excellent, they were fast, and the croissant sandwich was tasty. I went again a few months later to buy croissant breakfast sandwiches for 12 people to give to my clinical mates in the hospital. When I ordered, the guy said that the croissant was not ready and it would take awhile. I bought 2 dozens of doughnuts too. I asked the guy if I could just get a regular breakfast sandwich. The guy told me "no" because it is a lot of order and there were only 2 of them working. Then, he went to the back and came back to tell me that the meat was not ready and the owner has to bring the meat to the store. He said he already called the owner and wanted me to wait until 0630. I could not wait that long, so I ended up ordering the croissant (only bread) with nothing in each of them. They had 4 more customers in the line and they were still preparing the stuff because they just opened. I assumed they did not want to stress things out, so they denied my order. I felt that he lied to me because his explanations did not make any sense AT ALL! My point is, he did not have to lie to me, so they lost me. I swear to myself not to EVER go back there again and will NEVER recommend this...
