Never wrote a review on google before but I feel like I need to express myself and share my thoughts.
I'm constantly looking for new places to eat and came across this on google review. According to the reviews, this place is great so I decided to give it a try.
I work from home and place a phone order. The man told me 15 minutes but I gave about 25-30 minutes before leaving the house. Got to the restaurant and waited an additional 10 minutes for the food to be ready. I wasn't too happy about this because my time was limited and I had a lot of work to do.
I order the pork ribs with mash potatoes and mac n cheese.
The mash potatoes is very salty. I'm not a fan of salty food. Mac N Cheese is average nothing awe or special about it The pork ribs doesn't taste fresh. It's very hard and gainy like leftover food from yesterday. I feel like they server me leftover and added bbq sauce. I ate two pieces and threw it away. I love corn bread but the one they server me tasted stale. There's no flavor at all. The taste and texture just reminds me of leftover.
I don't write reviews but I don't see how this place has such a high ratings with poor quality food.
The only thing I like about this place was the pictures on the wall that makes it feel like home. I will not be ordering food from...
Read moreThe experience itself was wonderful and the food delicious. Here's the scoop - each evening 3 chefs work together to deliver a one of a kind meal based on the freshest ingredients they procured that morning from local vendors. The menu is never the same and is prepared in front of you. They will also have nice wine pairings for each course. The evening we attended was a five course meal beginning with a soup, then warm pasta salad, followed by scallop dish, a ribeye steak prepared differently than I have ever tasted and topped off with a delicious dessert. While the food was very tasty, some dishes were not something I would ever order at another restaurant simply because I am not a fan (scallops!) but I did try them because the way they were prepared was so different from anything I had ever seen before. Still didn't care for them (!) but I loved the overall experience. Portions are not huge, but you won't leave hungry! Highly recommend either location in Charleston for a different dining experience. Reservations are required so they know how many they are cooking for. Get them quickly if you are planning a trip to Charleston. They are often booked...
Read moreFirst off, I have to say, this was a very nostalgic experience. Growing up around and in the African American community, I have a deep love and appreciation personally for authentic soul food. With that said, we’re driving from the LBC heading towards Buena Park, and I randomly Yelp Soul food near me and R Kitchen Soul food comes up. Imma tell you right now that this was a pleasant surprise. Not because there’s not other family owned spots like this but because this food was honestly the some of the best Soul Food I’ve had in many many years. It felt like I just walked in to this families house and they poured out their love and soul into their food and blessed with such deliciousness. Long story short, if you’re in the lake wood area. You gotta take some time and show this small business some love. I guarantee if you do they will when you take that first bite. It was pretty epic! I love that I got to take a journey through a different culture and it happened with their food. Thanks R Kitchen for making some amazing Soul food. This is a really friendly small business. Go show them some love. ...
